we hopped into avas signature white jeep. i took the aux and began to play drake.

"i still can't believe you told him to fuck himself" ava said, while turning down the music.

"well he deserved it for being such a dick." i said, turning the music back up.

"okay zoe, are you blind or something?" ava asked, finally leaving the music alone.

"what do you mean?" i asked.

"that boy was like the prettiest person i've ever seen and he lives right next door to you!! you two need to get together because that man was so fineee" ava said, dragging out her words.

"whatever, he was okay i guess..." i trailed off, not wanting her to know that maybe i did think he was kinda cute.

a few minutes later we arrived at target (ya know, the basic white girl store) to an absolute shitshow. people must've been thinking the same thing as me and her because almost every single parking spot was filled, and it was so hard to find a shopping cart. we ended up waiting for someone to finish packing their things in their car and then we took their cart.

we walked in not knowing what to expect. people were running and grabbing whatever they could to fill their carts. some people even had two carts. me and ava grabbed what we thought we would need in a possible self quarantine: ramen, pop tarts, spaghetti-o's, and a bunch of other junk food. we got a few extra phone chargers too, just in case.

when we got to the register, i felt so bad for the poor workers. it was so loud i could barely even think. not to mention they have to be really fast to keep their line short. we waited in line for over 15 minutes until it was our turn.

when that was finally over, we rushed back to her jeep to pile in our belongings. someone was waiting for our cart and we kindly gave it to them and warned them of the havoc inside. they didn't care, and neither did we now that we were done with that. or so we thought.
