SIERRA

"Daddy? We have a table reserved for our pack here." I stop my dad who is currently moving towards the table occupied by Aztec and Avery and their parents.

"No sweetie. The Alphas of our pack and Avery's parents requested us to join them for dinner saying that it will help us get to know each other and mingle." I get nervous. What if Avery's parents accidentally come to know about me and Aztec's earlier relationship? Goddess! I get more and more nervous as my mom drags me to their table.

I look towards Caliana's table and see that they have also asked their betas to join in. I see Fenris pulling out a chair for a girl.

As far as I know, Fenris doesn't have a sister then who is she? Might be the other Beta couple's daughter as Lycidas sure doesn't have a sister but he doesn't need to be chivalrous for her. Zion being Caliana's brother isn't paying attention to the girl whatsoever then why in the Goddess's name is Fenris playing host? The back of my neck starts tingling but it doesn't tickle anymore. It feels like a needle is poking in the skin of my neck.

I urge him to look at me mentally but he is busy making small talks with her and participating in group family conversations. Anger burns inside me. Anger at myself for pushing him away. The scene in front of me is probably my punishment.

"Hey Sierra." I turn at the voice of Avery calling me.

"Hey. Congratulations on your mating." I quickly walk towards her and kiss her on the cheeks.

"Mom dad, meet my friend and Aztec's packmate, Sierra Boris. She is their beta's daughter and that's Mr. and Mrs. Boris. Sierra, meet my sister Myra." Avery introduces me and my mom dad to her parents. I like her a lot more for that. Sensing my anxiety, she squeezes my shoulder and motions me to take a seat.

Aztec tries to ruffle my hair and I escape by an inch saving my hairstyle from getting destroyed. I mock scowl at him and walk towards my parents and take a seat. Feeling someone's gaze on me, I look up to see Luna Jennifer smiling at me. I smile back.

Alpha Christopher and Avery's father sit at one end of the table, opposite to each other. Their mates sit on their left. Avery and Aztec sit beside Luna Jennifer with Aztec in the middle. Myra is sitting between Avery and their dad. I sit beside Alpha Chris on his right and dad slips in beside me after pulling out a chair for mom besides Avery's mom.

From where I am sitting, I have a clear view of Fenris and his new friend. She might be his old friend but it reassures me to think that she is his new friend, so she better be his new friend. I don't want to experience being the other woman again.

Dinner passes by in making small talks for everyone else but I sit there on auto-pilot mode. My body sits between my dad and Alpha but my mind is wandering around Fenris and his friend. They seem to be knowing each other very well as they have serious as well as light conversations. I am burning up in jealousy and he is oblivious to me. The menu of Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese along with roasted vegetable and Fried Chicken would have been delicious in other circumstances but now feels like sawdust. I finish my plate which my mother had filled for me and take a sip of my cocktail drink all the while watching Fenris. He hasn't even once looked in my direction but I have a feeling that he knows that I am looking at him. I feel Pathetic! I am hurt. Maybe he is purposely doing this for revenge. Whatever may be the reason, I know one thing for sure that I now know exactly how Fenris felt when I told him that I am in love with someone else and that he is not my mate.

"...... you and Aztec meet?" I hear Myra asking. I turn to look at her asking this question to her sister. I remember the day clearly and feel my face heat up in embarrassment. Avery looks at me and offers me a small smile.
