SIERRA

"Your performance is certainly better than when you all first arrived here. Very good. I hope you all continue with this improvement in every other monthly test. Good Luck!" says elder Amaruq on behalf of other elders and leaves the exam room. Some of their apprentices stay behind to explain our next month's schedule on request of the elders.

Fenris is also here and has been occasionally looking at me but as soon as our eyes meet, I immediately avert my eyes. I do not know why but I couldn't gather up the courage to at least show him that I acknowledge his claim.

It has been a week now since my wolf's encounter with Fenris and I am still ignoring him. I do not know how to behave around him. I realise I have made a big mistake but I do not know how to rectify it. What if he misunderstands that I am accepting him only because Aztec found his true mate and I am lonely? It is partly true that I do feel lonely but I now know that I shouldn't have rejected him hastily. I kind of gave up my only chance of being happy.

"Hello Sir. Your guidance has helped me a lot to clear this exam. What should I do to thank you?" I hear a sickly-sweet voice and turn around to find Alexandria talking to none other than Fenris with her puppy dog face.

"You are welcome kid. Just focus on the task at hand and it will help you be alert in your combat lessons," says Fenris and starts walking away, effectively dismissing her.

Looking at Alexandria frown at Fenris's back makes me smirk inwardly. So, Alexandria has no effect what so ever on my mate.

"No kotyonok. I do not get bothered by fickle people," says Fenris as he passes by me making me realise that I spoke my thoughts out loud. I blush and turn to look in time to see Fenris signal me to follow him.

I don't.

I am thinking if I should follow him or not. I am not ready to accept him. I realise that I am his mate but to really accept him is going to be difficult for me. It still hurts to see Aztec with his mate and I cannot picture myself with someone other than him even if that someone is my mate.

"Are you coming? I promise, I won't harm you," says Fenris with a serious look on his face, clearly misunderstanding my hesitance. I then start walking towards him to clear out his misunderstanding about me not wanting him.

"Hello Sir. I am sorry to hesitate about following you. It is just that our past encounters haven't been quite nice," I say which causes Fenris to roll his eyes annoyingly at me.

"You should call me Fenris. I just want to give you some advices to help improve your grades that is if you would approve," he says.

"Oh. Okay. It would really help me, Sir... Fenris," I rectify my mistake when Fenris raises an eyebrow at me.

"You should focus on your concentration more. I understand the need to be constantly alert of even a slightest movement in your surrounding but it can be dangerous to focus on channelizing your skills while keeping an eye on your surrounding," he says and I am more confused than ever.

He stops with his explanation when he looks at my puzzled look and gives me a small smile.

"It is okay. Do not worry about these things. For now, your results are quite good. If you keep this up, all your lessons will be done quicker than the others' and you might get a chance to be some elder's apprentice for the remaining time of your training," he finishes his sentence but I am still stuck the moment where he gave me his first genuine smile without any smirking or sarcasm.

Wow! My mate is cute.

"Thank You, Fenris. I will try with keeping up with my improvement," I manage to say without stuttering and then Fenris just leaves without any word about my wolf's meet with his. It is as if he is treating me like any other student here.
