Chapter 13

Scarlett's POV

The boys were finishing up their last few songs at the concert while i was guarding behind the curtains on the sidelines. I still couldn't get used to how well they can sing.

"These humans are pretty loud, don't you think?" Alakai said, coming up from behind me. I managed to get him a job here as another bodyguard. It just took a whole lot of convincing and begging.

"Yea. But you get used to it." I reassured him. I looked on stage where i saw Louis singing his part in the song 'One Thing'. He hasn't been the same around me since Alakai had that little talk with him. Whenever we're alone he would constantly look around just to make sure Alakai wasn't watching. I hate how he couldn't just be his usual carefree self anymore.

I looked to the other side of the stage where Kalona was staring intently at me and Alakai, wearing a smug smirk on his face. He's been acting differently as well. Almost as if he were planning something. I stayed very cautious whenever i was around him. As Alakai said before, he plays dirty; meaning you never know what Kalona would do to get his way. He took one long look at me before chuckling to himself and wandering away, disappearing into the shadows. Yep. He's definitely up to something.

"i'll be right back." I told Alakai before turning on my heel to follow Kalona. Before i could walk away, a hand gripped my arm.

"Where are you going?" Alakai asked with concern.

"I..just need to check something out." With that, i went to the direction where i sensed Kalona's presence. I twisted through the many people working backstage until i found a couple of barren hallways. There, i noticed the energy levels were scattered, making it harder for me to determine where Kalona was hiding. But i did know that  he wasn't alone. The rest of the Zinthovas were around here somewhere. I opened every door i could find, checking to see if they were occupied by any of the members. With each room i entered, i had no success. I couldn't find them anywhere.

Well...i spoke too soon. Just as i was about to open one of the last doors in the back hallway, it sprung open and i was yanked inside by multiple hands, only to be forcefully thrusted onto the ground with a loud 'oof'.

"Took you long enough to find us" a familiar voice said. Even though it was pitch black in the room, i had no trouble figuring out that it was Kalona speaking. I was still sitting on the ground as Kalona slowly made his way toward me. I felt his cold breath on face as he bent down to be at level with me. The next thing i knew, i was sent flying to the other side of the room when his foot made contact with my face. I grunted and held onto my throbbing cheek, trying to make out his outline in the darkness.

"It's been a while since we played together, hasn't it Scar?" I stood up, preparing to fight as i heard the squeak of Kalona's shoes on the floor.

"Is there a reason why you've decided to attack me now Kalona?" I spat venomously.

"Oh you know, i just wanted to spend some time with you before your precious Alakai got in the way." I could practically hear him smirk to himself as he spoke sarcastically. "Now, where were we?"

I felt a gust of wind pass by me right before i was grabbed from behind and thrown to another body. No doubt it was Nakacek/Nico who used his superspeed to do this. The person who caught me was Clignor/Craig, judging from the bulky muscles. Just then, i felt the ground rumble slightly before large rocks were chucked at me. I grunted with every stone that hit me. I quickly elbowed Clignor in the stomach just hard enough for his grip to loosen. I spun around and kicked him square in the jaw.

I caught the sight of flickering light from the corner of my eye. i barely dodged the fireball that was thrown at me, but it thankfully stayed lit on the floor of the room so that i could see all five of the Zinthovas. I flew towards Brelekk, tackling him to the ground and giving him a few jabs to his nose.
