Chapter 20

Louis's POV

"Yes. It is. Kalona is finally dead."

His words took a while to finally sink in. He's gone. He is finally gone. After all that's happened; after everything that he's done, the universe's deadliest creature is dead....and was the one who killed him. To think that me, a mere human, could defeat the one person who was nearly impossible to get rid of. It all seemed so surreal that i just couldn't believe it at all.

I still lay in a crouched position, on my hands in knees trying to catch my heavy breath. Alakai stood over me, a small smile etching his face as he looked around the empty place.

"I-It's over. It's finally over." I breathed.

"I know." Alakai replied. "I can't believe it either."

My eyes flitted down to look at the scarlet red orb laying on the ground as my sweat dripped off my face. The orb was glowing while the insides flowed smoothly. Small ribbons and rays danced within the ball, sparking with light every few seconds.

All the power i felt while blasting Kalona seemed to have left my body completely. I felt normal. Her power was no longer inside me.

I managed to slowly stumble up to my feet, my height matching Alakai's, and let out another deep breath.

"So...." i trailed. "what do we do now?"

Alakai was still staring into the distance, his eyes relieved of any stress or worry. A smile plastered on his face as he replied, "Well the job is done now. I just need to collect the Zinthova's bodies and head home."

"Oh." I bent down to pick up the delicate orb and gently tossed it into the air, repeatedly catching it in my right hand. I gripped it tightly as it made contact with my palm. "Thank you, by the way."

"For what?" He turned his head toward me, squinting his eyes as the sun rays started shining down onto his face.

"For helping us out. For saving us. For... just being there." I looked down to my hands as i fiddled with the ball with my thumbs.

"It's what i came here to do. Now everything is finally over. And besides," he patted my back, "its not like i did all the work. You were there too."

I smiled. "Yea i guess you're right. I was pretty awesome." I said playfully. "Couldn't have done it without you though."

He rolled his eyes, the corners of his mouth twitching upwards. "Obviously. But good work."

I pulled him into a bro-hug, lightly patting his back. Maybe he wasn't as bad as i thought he was. He's actually a pretty decent guy.

"Umm...guys!"

I heard a familiar voice say in the distance. I pulled away from Alakai and looked around to see who could possibly be here.

"I hate to break the moment. But do you think you could help us here?"

My gaze finally landed on four boys, laying motionless on the floor that was a great distance from where i stood. A grin took its place on my face as i ran towards their fallen bodies.

"Boys!" I screamed, my arms streched out. "I completely forgot about you!"

"Yea we noticed." Zayn commented.

"You think you can get us up?" Niall asked.

I scratched the back of my neck. "Umm..I don't really know how."

They all groaned simultaneously.

"Don't worry. I got this." Alakai said who suddenly appeared behind me. He carefully knelt down next to Zayn, his index finger sparking with electricity. "This may sting a little."
