“No. I don’t think you can be a hero without a quirk.” All Might’s words echoed in Izuku’s head as he walked away from him. “Having a goal is good, just make sure it’s achievable.” The door to the roof he was on slammed shut with Izuku looking at the sky.
“Hehe. I guess it really is hopeless.” Izuku was broken. His heart and mind crushed in the time of 24 hours. ‘Why did it have to be this way?’
Flash back to the evening prior
Izuku laid on his bed tired from a hard day of work. It wasn’t uncommon for some people his age to have a part time job or to do odd jobs for a little spending money. But Izuku was one that did both. He did this for his girlfriend who he had been with for two long years. He met her when they were younger, but never thought she saw anything in him. When they were in middle school together. He asked her if they could date. She agreed and Izuku felt like the happiest man in the world. Unfortunately this didn’t last long. He quickly realized she wasn’t that caring for him and regularly asked him for money or used him as a whipping boy when she needed one. He wasn’t foreign to being mocked and teased, but she went out of her way to make it known Izuku wasn’t worth much in the eyes of the populous. If the fact this happened to him wasn’t bad enough, the concept she nearly forced him to pick up part time jobs and do several odd jobs on the side for money that she spent was. Izuku was nothing but a human slave, but he didn’t know what else to do.
Izuku looked over to see his phone vibrate to see who it was. When he saw the contact, it was his girlfriend Camie Utsushimi. “A video?”Izuku pressed play on the video sent to him and saw a sight he wished he could unsee immediately.
“Oh yeah. Right there! HARDER!” He witnessed his girlfriend bent over naked having sex with another man. Izuku stared silently as tears welled up in his eyes. “You have no idea how I missed this after going to Shinketsu!” This comment made it worse for Izuku. It was bad enough his girlfriend cheated on him, but now he realizes this wasn’t even the first time.
“FUCK! WHEN THE HELL ARE YOU GONNA STOP DATING THAT SHITTY DEKU!?” Izuku’s eyes widened as an all too familiar voice rang in his head.
“Relax Bakugou, Midoriya can’t measure up to you. Besides, I want him to fail UA’s entrance exams before breaking up with him. I wanna see him cry as I show him what we do when we get the chance to.” Izuku couldn’t speak, but watch the video as his best friend/childhood bully defiled the sanctity of an already unstable relationship in a single video.
“Fuck that felt good. So why did you wanna tape this?” Bakugou asked as Camie went to her phone.
“I wanna show the little quirkless why I’m out of his league.” She tilted the phone to show the remnants of hers and Bakugou’s actions to Izuku who couldn’t watch anymore.
He shut his phone off and stared blankly at his ceiling, He didn’t scream, he didn’t shout, all he did was just lay there and cry. He couldn’t do anything but this as he just witnessed one of the only things that could hurt him more than the words people say to him or the beatings Bakugou or Camie could give him. It’s easy to say, Izuku didn’t sleep at all afraid the image will pop into his sleep and make him lose his mind.
Back to present
Izuku walked over to the ledge of the roof and looked down. ‘If you want a quirk so bad, take a swan dive off a roof and wish for a better one in the next life.’ Bakugou’s statement crept into Izuku’s head to force him to smile.
“All I need to do is jump, then the pain I have will stop.” Izuku moved his feet across the safety bar and looked below to see the alley beneath. “I just want this pain to end. *hic* Why did I have to be born in a world that just wants to bring me down. I HATE IT! I JUST WANT TO BE FREE OF THIS PAIN!”
Izuku took one last look at his life up to now to find only one person that may care if he died. ‘Mom. I’m sorry, but I can’t keep on living in this world as I am.’ Izuku moved his right foot off the ledge to pivot himself downward. He felt the air hit him in the face with the feeling of being free sinking in with him.
*THUD*
“AHHHHH!!!” Izuku felt unbearable pain and heard the sound of two girls screaming as he hit the solid concrete below him.
“I can’t even die right. Why can’t I get a break in this world?” Izuku cried as he slipped out of consciousness.
Some time had passed since Izuku took the big plunge from the building where he stood his whole body was in pain he could feel every bit of it. Although he was unconscious he could hear every little thing around him as the sounds of large double doors slammed people frantically running around shouting "hook him up to an IV drip!"
Soon all that was replaced with gasping as if someone discovered something appalling then it all concluded with weeping and the steady sounds of beeping.
Izuku then slowly began to open his eyes as the blinding fluorescent lights from the hospital room blinded him as he turned his head to the left where he saw the night sky outside his window. He then heard the sliding door to his room open as he turned his head. It was none other than his mother. She shouted for a doctor to come in then the head doctor had rushed inside to see if the boy was awake. The doctor began to check Izuku's vitals after finishing up "Do you know how stupid you are for jumping off that building! You're lucky two girls were passing by and saw your body and immediately called for help." Izuku looked down ashamed he couldn't look the doctor or his mother straight in the eye. "When you got here you had multiple broken bones your legs,arms,ribs, back were fractured and heavily damaged"
Izuku kept looking down; it wasn't until his mother Inko had grabbed his face to forcibly get his attention. "Izuku sweety please talk to me when I got a call that you were in the hospital I thought I lost you. Please tell me what's wrong, it's breaking my heart." Inko said as tears were flooding from her eyes it just made it harder for Izuku to even make eye contact with her "Im sorry mom it's just things got tougher and I thought you would have been happier without me holding your happiness back. I'm a quirkless nobody I’m worthless to this society"
It was at this moment that Inko did something she swore she would never do so she slapped Izuku"You're all I have left Izuku! If you died, I don't know what I would have done!" The doctor interrupted the mother son duo "Actually when you came in we looked at your file and we decided to scan your body again to reveal a quirk had manifested." Both Inko and Izuku had shocked faces after they heard the doctor state that a quirk manifested. " How is that possible doctor?"
"Well Mrs. Midoriya we still have little info on how quirks really work but this quirk is nothing like we've seen. If I had to categorise it from D to A, this quirk is definitely double S rank."
