Ashes

Part Six

"Ha-ha, no problem" I replied and scoffed from the compliment he had given me. "What's our plan for tomorrow?" I asked as I tried not to get an awkward silence between us. "We have to get to the town and change out of these uniforms" explained Harry, just before he was ready to go back to camp.

"Hey, wait!" I uttered as I started hearing gunshots coming from the city and even more people screaming in terror. "What's going on?" I asked as I saw giant explosions coming from the small town. "I don't know, the military usually don't attack regular people?" replied Harry and was just as shocked as I was.

"Maybe it's the resistance?" asked Harry and almost looked like he had the urge to go down there. "Should we go down? Help them maybe?" I asked and tried giving him ideas of what to do? But I saw him keeping his eyes dead set at the town, "No, we'll go there tomorrow" concluded Harry and helped me getting up from my position on the ground.

"Thank you" I said as I got my footing by the roots of the tree we hid behind," Your welcome" he replied and showed a different side of himself as we started going back to the camp.

"So, how did you get to know Rubie, James and the rest of the group?" I asked as we tried not to step on the broken stick and branches on the ground around us. "Well, James is my younger brother, but Sam is like the little brother I've always wanted" explained Harry and dodged some low hanging branches. "Rubie caught Sam's attention once in the cafeteria, probably one of the first days she got to the prison. She had bruises and scars on her face, probably from the guards giving her a rough time." Said Harry as he started jumping over the lakes we had passed earlier, "Here let me help you" said harry and gave me his hand to help me over the biggest lake we had jumped over before. "Thank you" I replied as we continued on towards the camp.

"What about the tattooed girl? How did you get to know her?" I asked as we kept getting closer and closer to camp. "Janice? She helped me once when I got beaten up by a guard. She grabbed a close by broomstick and shoved it up the guards mouth to stop him from hurting me" said Harry and laughed.

"There you guys are! Finally!" said Rubie and started preparing her bed for the night, "Yeah, sorry. I was out scouting" replied Harry and looked towards me to hear what excuse I had to make up. "Oh, I was just out in the woods peeing." I replied and watched as Rubie and Harry break out in laughter.

Rubie's laughter abruptly stopped though, when the branches around our camp started snapping from every direction. "James, wake up!" said Harry as Rubie ran to grab little Sam who slept like a rock. "What is it Harry?" I asked as I started looking around, "I don't know? Can you guys see anything?" asked Harry and started becoming cold as ice, whilst James tried to wake up, ready to fight whoever was threatening us.

All the branches around us had stopped snapping and crunching, everything in fact turned quiet? We all looked at each other, confused and worried for what was about to happen.

Sounds of airplane engines filled the forest, just before a gigantic robot-armored person jumped from the deep of the forest and grabbed a hold of me, forcing me to the ground with its strength.

"Cassie!" yelled James before he pushed the robot-armored person away from me with his ability. "Thanks" I replied, just before two other robots jumped out from the forest and fired its guns on the ground all around us.

Harry started freezing one of the robots, but it didn't help. The robots were large, and the armor covered most of the already large people. "Get away changeling scum!" yelled one of the men with a familiar voice and swung his arms around, knocking over Harry as he was about to start freezing another robot.

"Harry!" yelled James in fury as he grabbed a hold of one of the robots closest to him and threw it across the battlefield we had created. "Watch out James!" I yell and grabbed one of the robot's arms just before it was about to knock him out.

"Wait Cassie!" yelled James and covered himself for the incoming attack, but I caught it just in time.

I grabbed a hold of the metallic fist the robot had mistakenly given me and felt the blood inside me started to boil. "Cassie, your..." said Harry in shock, "-on fire" said James and finished his sentence.

The robot struggled to get his metallic fist back, but I held on as hard as I could and saw as the arm melted in my hands. "Cassie! Watch out!" yelled Rubie and warned me of the incoming robot attack, but I didn't know what to do other than covering myself?

"Cassie!" yelled Rubie as the robotic arm hit me, but I didn't feel the pain? I uncovered my arms, only to see that both of the robots stood still, in shock and watched the burning hot metal melting to the ground around me.

I looked down on my body, only to see that what was once the uncomfortable prisonsuit was now burning and melting of my skin?! My body was like a gigantic flame with arms and legs. The robots who were once attacking us, were now on their way back to retreat. Only a handful was left after my transformation, but that was just enough for me to handle.

"Get her!" yelled the once again familiar voice from before and pointed directly at me! I looked once again at the damage I did on one of the robots and saw a human hand!

"They are humans!" I yelled as I ran towards one of them to do whatever I could to damage it. "Of course!" said Janice and fought the robots with a sword she had gotten from her tattoos, "I overheard Prune talk about them!" she continued as she kept on fighting the robot-armored men.

"Harry, you take number 005, James you take 003, Rubie 004 and Janice.." I said as I slowly walked towards the guard I wanted the most, "You do you. I'll take 001" I said before I started running towards robot-armored guard number 001.

I continued to run towards the guard, but just before I got to him. I noticed that he kept one of the robotic arms behind him? I stopped just in front of him as I reached my arms out towards it to somehow damage it, but the guard had planned on me failing! He grabbed something from his belt and that something landed on the ground in front of me.

''Watch out!" yelled Janice and threw a knife she probably had animated from her body, on the thing the guard had dropped. I jumped back, only realizing now that it was a grenade the guard had dropped, before he had jumped to the side to save himself from the explosion.
