"Don't let them leave!" yelled Crystal from behind us as Harry extinguished the fire with the hand I hadn't severely burned, proving who's side he had chosen.
Rubie slowed down a bit, seeing as she was in front of all of us and she probably saw that James struggled to carry little Sam. I stopped as well, covering for her if she ever had the need it?
"Cassie, run!" yelled Rubie as she threw Sam on her back, but I knew she struggled. I walked towards the hoard of soldiers coming our way trying to stop us, but still I didn't know what to do?
I simply closed my eyes and reached further than I ever reached. I felt my cold skin from the chilling night breeze, turn warmer than it ever had gotten! The warmth sent sweat dripping down my back and down my arms, before I felt my clothes burst out in flames. I had never felt this powerful in my entire life!
"Cassie! Let's go!" I heard Rubie yell as I slowly felt my feet let go off the ground beneath me, I felt the heat around me go warmer and warmer.
Crystal's soldiers stopped right in front of me, both shocked and amazed at what I could do. "Do you see that James?" I faintly overheard Rubie ask as I was in the middle of the two groups. "She looks like a phoenix!" yelled Jaden from behind all of Crystal's soldiers and finished James's and Rubie's conversation.
I opened my arms and truly showed how powerful I could be, but out of the corner of my eye, I saw the faint outline of a person walking closer to me than what the soldiers and what Rubie did.
"Cassie, I command you to stop what you're doing and calm down!" yelled the person in the corner of my eye. It was Crystal!
I tried to feel if I felt myself losing any control, but I didn't? Crystal no longer had control over me. And her soldiers noticed it as well!
I slowly pointed one of my arms towards Crystal's soldiers, while the other was pointed to Crystal. I opened my fists to blast the strongest beam of fire in front of them all, creating a stronger and larger barrier between us all. I closed my eyes draining myself from all the heat and warmth that I had gathered from inside and extinguished myself without needing any help.
Rubie quickly grabbed a quick-change of clothes so I didn't have to run naked, but before we started running, I only glanced back once to see Crystal's shocked and enraged face and to give her a little wink before I ran away.
We all ran in a singular direction, away from the city and away from the camp. "Where do we go?" asked Janice and threw James his backpack, only to gather more speed than the rest of us. "James, do you know where we could go?" asked Rubie and started breathing more and more heavily for each step she took.
"Go into the forest!" yelled James and started running towards the forest edge and hid behind some bushes and branches to catch his breath. Rubie and I did the same, but Janice wanted us to keep going.
"We need a plan!" explained Rubie, still trying to catch her breath from running. "Then make one!" yelled Janice frustrated and kept looking to see if we were followed or not?
James tapped my shoulder and dragged me aside so we could talk, "What happened back there?" he asked, as if he had seen a bomb explode. "I don't know. I felt more in control of my ability than I have ever had!" I explained and opened my hand to show a small flame I created by only thinking about it.
"What do we do now?" asked Rubie and looked to James in hopes of a plan, but he didn't have a clue of what to do.
"Let's just stay hidden and walk in a singular direction and see where it takes us?" I suggested and grabbed my backpack and started walking in the same direction we had already been walking in.
Janice and James quickly caught up to me, while Rubie and Sam stayed a little behind us all. "Are you good back there?" asked James and adjusted his glasses, struggling to walk on the large roots and branches that were on the ground.
"We're ok!" yelled Rubie and purposely stomped down on the branches she saw in her path, making as much noise as possible without thinking of the danger she'd put us in. "Rubie, stop!" yelled Janice and found cover by a large tree trunk, James hid as well by a little bush near Janice.
I saw them doing this and realized that we were in danger if we didn't do something. So, I jumped at Rubie, accidentally knocking her over and sending Sam's sleeping body stumbling down a small ditch near a creek.
Janice was right in what she did, within seconds of us hiding and pushing each other over came a small group of teens with flashlights in her their hands. The three guys and the singular girl were clearly drunk and even carried the bottle of booze that they had been drinking from.
We stayed quiet as the teens moved around and yelled, filling the entire forest with sound and lights. "Just some stupid teens" whispered James from the small bush he hid behind, but no one saw what was going to happen next...
The teens started to get violent with the girl, even ripping her top off and the three guys were enjoying it. The girl screamed out in fear and pain as the guys started touching inappropriately and further started to rip her clothes off.
"Aren't we going to do something?" I asked in shock as the guys started getting more and more violent with the poor girl, they had brought with them out in the woods.
Nobody replied... we were all in shock.
Janice furiously rubbed her arm, animating an insanely large knife with rugged edges as she stepped out from behind the large tree and yelled for them to stop. The three guys started laughing and one of them even tried to grab the knife from her, but Janice was quick to react.
"Leave her alone!" yelled Janice with a shaky voice, maybe showing some fear for the first time? The guys laughed again and continued to undress the girl, but that was when Janice went insane on them!
Janice stabbed one of the guy's legs and after the guy started yelling, she animated her whip that she had tattooed on her stomach and whipped the two other guys, filling the quiet woods with snapping sounds from a whip.
Even Rubie got out from hiding and helped the girl. Rubie grabbed the clothes that hadn't been ripped off the girl and gave her the clothes that wasn't completely ruined and some of our clothes. "Thank you" said the girl and covered herself as Janice whipped the guys deeper in the forest.
"How is she doing that?" asked the almost naked girl and slowly started getting dressed as quickly as she possibly could. "Don't care about that" replied Rubie assuringly and gave her one of the flashlights the guys had dropped and scooted her away from her, just in time as Janice came back from scaring the guys away.
"What now?" asked Janice short of breath and looked at the rest of us more energized than ever before, "We follow her" replied Rubie as she walked over to the small ditch Sam had been pushed down and helped him recover from the sudden and shocking awakening he got.
"Let's go!" said Rubie as she threw Sam on her back and walked towards town.
