PRIME SUSPECT

Chapter 1

         
"Pens up!" the invigilator clamoured, as he began to collect the exam papers . It was their last paper and everyone was excited.

"Hurray!!! we are done, Bsc. cleared" the students shouted as the invigilator walked out of the hall.

With so much excitement, the students shouted and danced. They hugged one another, took pictures and videos.

"Congratulations sweetheart! I'm so proud of you." Dennis told his fiance as she stepped out to meet him after the exam.

"Thanks honey." she said happily.

"Hope I didn't keep you waiting for a long time?" she asked.

"Well well, I've been here for about an hour but doesn't matter. C'mon, you're here now." he said, giving her a peck on her cheek.

"I am proud of you!" he said lifting her up into the air.

"You are my inspiration!" she said as he dropped her down.

"Shall we?" he asked.

"Yeah sure." she replied.

"Ok"he said

"Where exactly?"she asked

"To a restaurant, to eat  and celebrate." Plus I'm starving he added with a light chuckle.

"Let's go!" she said as she rushed to enter the car.

They made thier way to a nearby restaurant.

"Babe, what are your plans?" Dennis asked as they rode to the restaurant.

"I'll serve my father land, then apply for masters as soon as I'm done with Service." Eugenia replied.

"Hmm" Dennis sighed.

"But I plan to get a job while I'm at all these. I know it won't be easy but I'll make it work." she completed with a smile.

"Alright darling. If that's your plan, we will follow." Dennis concluded.

"Eugee," Dennis called.

"Yes dear," she answered.

"When do we meet your parents?" Dennis asked with a hint of concern in his tone.

"Anytime from now," she replied.

"Okay," he said then continued .

"But Eugenia have you told them about us? Do they know you're seeing someone?" he asked.

"No dear" Eugenia replied.

"Eugenia you know your parents, they might not accept me" Dennis mumbled.

"Baby don't worry, they will" she assured and pecked him.

"Okay " he said, unconvinced.

At the restaurant, they ate, chatted and caught up on the things that happened while they were away from each other. After the meal , Dennis dropped her at her house, gave her a goodnight kiss and promised to call as soon as he got home.

"Good evening mom," Eugenia said as she walked into the living room.

"Good evening darling," her mother replied.

"Where is dad?" Eugenia asked.

"He's asleep."

"Oh! So early?" she asked.

"Yes, he actually tried to wait up, but he couldn't keep his eyes open."

"Ok."

"Congrats darling, I'm so proud of you!" she said hugging her.

"Thank you, Mom" Eugenia said.

"Why did it take you so long to return?" her mother asked.

"I went out" she replied.

"With who?"

"Mummy, with a friend," she smiled.

"Eugee! Just a friend?" she winked.

"Oh mom! stop, just a friend." she said slapping her forehead.

"Your dad got you a present"her mother  told her

"Really?"she asked with a surprise

"Yes darling,"her mother  replied.

"So what is it, what's the present, where is it?" Eugenia asked anxiously.

"I won't tell you"her mother said

"Mom please"Eugenia pleaded

"I won't tell you"her mother  insisted

"Mom"Eugenia called

"Daughter Good night"her mother  said

"Mom, please don't you want me to sleep?I am so curious."Eugenia said.

"Get some rest. You look exhausted ."her mother  told her .

"Good night Mom"she sighed defeatedly.

"I love you daughter"she said as she walked  her to her room.

"I love you too Mom"she told her mom as she tiredly walked into her room and dropped on her bed. It had been a long day.
