PRIME SUSPECT

Chapter 20

Nat drove  into Sandra's  compound, Liz and Sandra  were  driving in a different car,they were in Sandra's , while Nat was in his own car driving   behind them  since he didn't know the way to Sandra's house.It was already  5:00pm when they got to Sandra's house.

Nora  was the one who opened the gate for  them. They were the  only  ones  living in the compound.Nora was surprised  two cars could enter their small   compound.

"Welcome"Nora greeted  Sandra as she came out of the car.

"How are you Nora? "Sandra asked.

"I'm fine "Nora answered  looking  at the  strangers  at standing behind Sandra .

"Please  come in"Sandra told Nat and Liz .

They entered  the house as Nora  was still looking at them, wondering what they could possibly be looking for in their house.

"Please  sit"Sandra  said offering  them seats.

"Thank you"They both said as they sat down.

"Nora, meet Nat and Liz , they are detectives"Sandra  said introducing them.

"Hello"Nora greeted and waved as she   sat beside Sandra.

"How are you? "Liz asked .

"How are you? "Liz asked.

"I'm fine thank you "Nora replied .

"Nora, were you  at your brother's  place two days ago ?"Nat  asked.

"No,  but I was supposed  to be there but I changed my mind"Nora told him looking scared.

"Why did you change your mind? "Nat asked.

"Nothing"Nora said.

"And did you tell your  brother  you had changed  your mind? "Liz asked.

"No, I didn't, I  just assumed  he was going to call me if  he didn't see me, but I haven't heard from him up till now."Nora said .

"Ok"Liz said and jotting  down these new pieces of information.

"But  why are you asking  me all these  questions? "Nora asked  looking confused .

"Are you telling us you haven't heard    about  Eugenia's death?"Nat asked.

Nora sat well, adjusted her hair and  cleared  her throat.

"Oh my  God! are you saying my brother's  wife  is dead?"Nora asked looking  shocked.

"Yes"Liz answered.

"I don't know anything about her death"Nora said crying .

"From the little  information  we've  gathered so far, we are fully aware you hated her when she was alive"Nat said .

"Yes, she dated my brother without telling me and she was aware Sandra  was my brother's  girlfriend at that time, and she was also my closest friend then, so I felt  she had betrayed Sandra and also betrayed me"Nora said  childishly.

"OK "Liz  said taking down more notes in her notebook .

" I won't advise the two of you to  go anywhere  for the time being , as you are prime suspects  and all eyes  on you at the moment"Nat said .

Liz also stood up immediately.

"We'll be leaving now, but please if you hear anything that will be of help in solving this case ,  please let us know "Liz said   giving them her number  and Nat also gave them  his number .

"Ok"both of them replied crying .

"Those  girls  are innocent "Liz told Nat as they drove out of the compound.

"Yes they  seem very innocent"Nat said.

Nat  dropped Liz off at her house as it was already dark when they left Sandra's compound.

"Good night Liz"Nat said.

"Good night Nat, see you tomorrow"Liz said
