Chapter 28

March 21,2003

Liz and Nat went to Mr.Johnson's house, on getting there, they  met Dennis  who claimed  he came to see his  in-laws.

When Nat and Liz  got  in they greeted everyone  in the sitting room, including  Mary who was looking  better  than the last  time they came.

"I can see you are much better now, Mrs. Johnson "Liz said with a smile.

"Yes, I am"Mary also replied with  a smile .

"Mr.Roland, it's good you are here"Nat said  and  continued .

"Please,  can I see Laura? "Nat requested .

"Sure "Johnson said.

Laura came into the  sitting room and  sat down.

"Good morning  Laura, how was your  night? "Liz asked .

"Fine, thank you detective, good morning "Laura  greeted  back.

"So Laura, where  were you on the 11th of march, this year? "Liz asked .

There was a huge silence in the sitting room, everyone was surprised  at the question.

"Where was she supposed to be? school of course "Mary said .

"Mrs.Johnson, I would please like Laura   to answer  for herself"Nat said.

"I was in school "Laura replied.

"OK, Laura but   on the 11th of march this  year , you came into the country from  Italy, through  air dolomiti, seat 010 your plane took off 7am prompt  from Verona and you landed  here at 11:04am,you also went back on the 13th of march, this  same year and came back again  on the 15th of march, that same day, around  2pm on the  11th of march. This same year, you were also at  sunrise  supermarket to get  provisions, you even complained  to the attendant that they displayed  an expired product, true or false? "Liz asked .

Laura couldn't  find her voice, she was silent .

"Where  did you get all this information? "She asked  looking  very scared .

"Was that the question  you were asked ?"Johnson  asked sounding  very serious.

"Laura talk, tell them it's a lie"Mary said almost crying .

"Anyways, Miss Laura Steve, what do  you know about  your sister's death?"Liz asked .

Everywhere   was silent

"Laura talk"Johnson shouted  at her .

"You are right detective, I came into the country before  march 15th"Laura said crying .

"And I'm  sorry dad, I'm sorry mom, I killed  my sister "she said and burst into an uncontrollable  tears  and then continued.

"But it wasn't  an intentional act "She said .

Dennis was dumbfounded, Mary  couldn't  believe  what was happening,Johnson was short of words .

"My conscience  has been  pricking me, I didnt do it intentionally, It was a mistake "Laura said falling  on her knees.

"What happened? "Liz asked.

"Two years  after  I got  to school, I fell into Don's hand, he was my lecturer in school and  liked me because  I was one of his best students"Laura said sniffing.

"Is  Don his real name? "Nat asked.

"No"Laura replied.

"His name is Mr. Alessandro Roberto, he told me to come to him if I needed  anything, I saw him as someone  i could run to at anytime"Laura said again and sniffed.

"So?"Liz asked .

"I became an undercover agent  for him , he's  a big criminal, sometimes I travelled  to New York, and  since  I worked  as an undercover  for him  he always  payed  me. One day, I was given Mr.James Wood's picture. I was told   to go and  look for him in  New York, I didn't  know why they wanted him, after  much  effort,i found him and called Alessandro to tell him  I had found him. His  men abducted  James and took him  to our custody  in Italy "
