If you asked Jasper if there was one thing she couldn't live without, her answer would undoubtedly be coffee.
It was the day after the DADA debacle and she was getting heat on all sides. The Griffindors stared at her unashamedly, The Puffs tried not to look at her as if she was a death eater, The Snakes were as snobby and spiteful as ever, and even her fellow Eagles were steering clear of the half-baked Harley. All except Xenophillius.
"You are the talk of Hogwarts you know?" He asked that morning as Jasper was trying to enjoy her french vanilla coffee with a splash of milk and a whole lot of sugar.
"Yes, their stares aren't verry subtle. Then again what do I expect? People are always afraid of the unknown and make a giant squid out of a pygmy puff." Jasper replied as she took a sip of her daily dose of caffeine.( So much so Xenophillius and Lily were worried about her addiction to the beverage)
Xenophillius gave her a look that said 'Are you sure that much caffeine is healthy?' and shook his head before going back to his pancakes in peace leaving a half awake Jasper to finish the drink that was her addiction.
Had she looked up instead of holding the cupa coffee like it was the elder wand it's self she would have noticed a certain scared Griffindor looking her was curiously before returning to talk with his friends about their upcoming prank on Severus Snape.
As Jasper finished her coffee Lily Evans approached the Ravenclaw table with her flaming hair flowing after her.
Lily Evans was a muggleborn, fiesty, and the smartest witch if her time. Her emerald eyes could almost fool you into thinking she was a innocent good girl, but if you knew her like Jasper, you'd know that the Evans girl was just as bad as James Potter and Sirius Black.
Hell if Jasper's hair was a couple shades lighter the two could be related, for both had a temper and tongue as venomous as a basilisk when provoked.
"Are you hearing this rubbish of how Potter and Black have managed to get themselves dates to the snowball dance? And that isn't even the kicker, they are taking Rita Seeker and Marlene McKinnon. I tired to tell Marlene they are nothing but bumbling toe rags but she just said Sirius was a piece of cake too good looking not to try. Her words not mine." Jasper nods in thought as she listened to the fellow redhead ramble about how and I quote ' Bloody Unbelievable' the whole situation was.
"Well Black has gotten the attention of many third years and even older, and Marlene has been wanting to ask him out for a while as you have told me. Have you ever thought that it's not Marlene going out with Black that's bothering you, but Seeker stealing Potter from you?" Jasper asked with a small smirk of amusement. As much as Lily said she hated it, she loved the way James Potter pushed her buttons and pursued her as if she was the last woman alive.
Lily put on a horified look and looked as though Jasper had told her that Malfoy's future child would be her son-in-law. (*Cough* Drarry *Cough*)
"Jasper Atticus Harley! How dare you imply such a thing?! I would rather kiss the giant squid than ever even think about being jealous over Potter!" Lily exclaimed with the dramatics that could match the Hufflepuff, Amos Diggory.
Xenophillius quietly smiled at the exchange between the two redheads before avoiding their conversation, not wanting to face the Evans girl's wrath.
"Then pucker up Lil's because something tells me that uneasy feeling is for James. I don't see what's so wrong with liking him though. He is handsome, tall, plays quidditch, and with the dates he plans is romantic. Seriously Lily it was a known variable that if you kept rejecting the poor lad he'd have to move on eventually." Jasper says getting up and walking past the Griffindor table, knowing that the Maraders were listening in. You see while Jasper didn't know James Potter well, she knew that he made Lily happy...in a I have someone to banter with and he is cute way. She also knew that what was coming out of her mouth was Bullocks, well most of it, because Potter was most likely doing the whole date to make Lily jealous. Which, to say the least, was working.
Lily opens her mouth but shut it right back up when she noticed the boy they were talking about was not so subtly listing to the girls conversation. In a split second the Evans girl figured out what the Harley girl was doing.
In a verry Lily-like was she glared at Jasper and and stormed off out of the great Hall to cool off. Jasper looked amusedly as Lily's retreating figure as
Xenophillius walked calmly to her side and shook his head in quiet laughter.Jasper then looked over her shoulder catching the eye of James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin, and walked over to the side of the two infamous ringleaders.
She looked at their prank for the oh so affectionately called Snivellus."Try a charm to make the substance invisible so it will be less noticable, Severus is smart enough to recognize that as a hair dying potion. Also if you want to make if more effective add more moonstone so it'll last longer. Possibly make it your house colors since you know how much he loves Griffindor, and I hope you me little plan works to make Lily go with you to the dance. Nice rumor, by the way, she hates Rita Seeker." Jasper winked at the Maraders before she walked back to the entrance of the hall and was on her merry way to Transfiguration with Xenophillius by her side.
The Maraders looked at her retreating figure in shock and it was, surprisingly, Sirius Black who recoverd first.
"Mooney if you don't ask her out by the end of our seventh year, I will marry that woman" Black stated while still looking at where she wrote down the adjustments with awe.
