Be With You

Chapter 6

Tuesday (4 days until the party)

"Raven, we need to go to the mall to buy Earth party clothing!" Starfire squealed in Raven's face. Raven was still in bed, and was not in the mood.

"You mean, like, dresses and stuff?" Raven said flatly. Starfire nodded.

"Count me out." Raven turned her back to Starfire.

Starfire's smile faded and she let out an "oh" in disappointment. "I just thought we could have some time of the girls and get away from the boys for a little while...but I understand." Star began to fly away.

"WAIT!"

Starfire stopped.

"Get away from the boys?" Raven asked. Star nodded again.

"Count me in!"

Raven leaped out of bed. "Let's go find some dresses."

"Yay!" Starfire hugged Raven tightly.

Deprived of air, Raven managed to say, "Besides, we need to buy decorations."

"Let's go!" Star joyfully said as she flew out.

"Wait! I need to get dressed first!"

Later, Raven and Starfire were at the mall,  buying decorations.

"So...we have balloons, streamers, wall decals, and everything else. Everything we can't carry will be delivered to the tower," Raven said. She checked off all the things on the list she was holding and put it in a pocket. "Let's go get the food now."

"We will handle the food later, right?" Starfire said, "Because I would really like to talk to you about something."

"What did you want to say?"

"Well..."

Starfire sat down on a bench nearby. Raven hovered over and took a seat beside her.

"I have been thinking about what you said to me yesterday, about feeling bad about rejecting Beast Boy. I think you should accept his invitation," Starfire told Raven.

Star whipped out a phone. "To save you the hardship, I'll do it."

(Texting)

Star: Hello, Beast Boy. I was just talking with Raven, and she regrets saying no when you asked her to the party on Saturday. She really did want to go with you, it was just a bit complicated to handle. We both hope you will take her.

After about thirty seconds...

BB: Really? Raven wants to go with me?

Star: Yes, really.

BB: I don't know what to say...

Raven took the phone.

Star: Hey. It's Raven. I think it should've been me to tell you what Starfire just said, but I didn't know how. It may seem awkward and generally confusing, but it's what we both really want. So, I'll go with you to Cyborg's party.

Raven turned the phone off.

Later...

Back at the house (after the girls bought the food and their dresses), Raven and Starfire returned. Beast Boy came out from nowhere and wrapped Raven up in a bear hug.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'll make this the best party of your life!" Beast Boy exclaimed.

"Don't push it."

BB put Raven down. "Sorry."

Beast Boy walked off. Raven couldn't help, but chuckle. This feels wonderful.

I don't regret a thing.
