Things change

A/N: I'm sorry it took a long time to update but I've been having lots of homework. Could you please comment if you like it? That would be awesome! I hope you enjoy.

Some days after their reconciliation, Galinda and Elphaba were in their room studying for a test, well more like Elphaba was helping her friend, study for a test. This was not an easy task.

"Come on Glin it's really not that hard, you just have to think a little" they had been doing this for hours but still the green girl remained patient and understanding "Umm I don't know, maybe. . . . . Oh I know it was before the great drought!" She said excitedly "Good! I knew you could do it! Well, that was the last one, we're done" Galinda sighed happily and laid on her bed. Then she pated the spot next to her motioning for Elphaba to come lay besides her. Elphaba looked reluctant for a second but did as she was told.

The two friends laid together in silence for some minutes until Galinda spoke. "Thank you Elphie, I really need to pass that test" Elphaba turned towards the blonde and smiled "And you will Glin" the smaller girl turned towards her roommate as well and gave her a sad look "I never seem to do, maybe I'm just not smart enough" "Hey, don't say that, you are way smarter than you give yourself credit for" the blonde smiled"Do you really mean that?" Elphaba was dazzled by Galinda's beauty, they were so close now their faces almost touching "Of course I do" she mumbled, Galinda didn't want to do something she would regret later, yes, she wanted Elphaba but this was not the time, not yet, she needed to take care of some things before she opened up to the brunette. Still, it was hard to do what she did next "Ummm . . . . I promised Pfannee and Shenshen that I would meet with them tonight and I should really start getting ready" She reluctantly sat up in her bed "Oh yeah, o-of course, ta-take your time" the green girl stuttered and sat up as well.

Galinda went into the bathroom and left a very agitated Elphaba alone in their room. The green girl felt her heart pounding loudly in her chest, she had been stupid to think they would kiss again, after all, the first time had just been an accident, Galinda didn't really feel that way about her, so why would she try to kiss her again? She settled sadly in her bed and started reading one of her books.

A few hours later, Galinda was ready. She went out of the bathroom and was relieved to see that Elphaba had fallen asleep reading a book. She had been worried of what she would say to her, she knew things were still going to be a little awkward. She walked slowly to avoid waking her roommate and exited the room.

Pfannee had told her they would meet in a little cafe right next to campus which was their usual place to meet. She approached the local slowly until she spotted her supposed friends, waving at her from one of the tables. She entered the cafe and walked towards their table. "Oh Galinda honey! Where were you?" Said Pfannee, Shenshen noted and added "We were worried sick!" Galinda rolled her eyes and faked a smile "I'm sorry girls I simply forgot we were meeting" she hadn't actually forgotten, her plan had been to ditch them but the events earlier had ruined her plans "that's quite alright dear I'm sure it wasn't your fault, oh it must be so awful to room with the green bean, surely she had something to do with your tardiness" "Yes, she must have distracted you or something" Galinda was starting to get angry, she hated when her friends talked like that about Elphaba, she had already asked them not to, but, of course, they didn't care and used every chance they had to say awful things about Galinda's roommate. "No, actually Elphaba had nothing to do with me being late, I've already told you, she isn't actually bad once you get to know her" Pfannee and Shenshen shared a look and then Pfannee said "How can you say that? She's the green bean, she is repulsive, you don't actually mean that do you?" Galinda was furious "Yes, I do, in fact I consider her my friend, and a very good one, so I would really appreciate it if you two would stop messing with Elphaba" she must have sounded crazy, she certainly felt like it " Alright dear don't get mad, but you do understand that being friends with the gree-" "Elphaba" Galinda interrupted "Being friends with . . . . . El-Elphaba will totally ruin your reputation right?" Galinda was done, she stood up abruptly and said "well maybe I don't give a damn about my reputation anymore" with those words she left the cafe leaving Pfannee and Shenshen to wonder what had gotten into her.

That night Galinda couldn't sleep. Her thoughts kept wondering to the almost kiss with Elphaba and her argument at the cafe with Pfannee and Shenshen. She had decided that the next day she would break up with Fiyero, she hadn't figured out what she was going to tell him yet but she knew it was the right thing to do. She simply couldn't believe how different things were now, some months ago, the simple thought of leaving Fiyero to be with a girl and a green one at that, would make her laugh, but now, she was about to do it. Things were changing, and Galinda found herself liking this change.
