The highway is surrounded by woods on either side. I ran towards the trees on my left as soon as Lucy told me to.
The adrenaline rush and urge to maim and kill is too strong for me to think clearly. Right now all that matters is me getting away from those beating hearts.

The branches cut me as I speed through them, creating wounds that heal almost immediately.
I stop running for a while and lean on my knees, controlling my breathing.
The beating hearts are far enough... I should be safe. They should be safe. From me.

Then I hear a crunching noise. An unfamiliar scent, and an animalistic sound I'd imagine belonged to the dinosaurs.
The heartbeat grows closer...
I brace myself, fueling my veins with all the power I can, and prance like a predator, ready to attack the unknown creature lurking in the trees.
"Who are you?!" I scream into the darkness.
"Come on! Don't be shy!" I try again.
It replies with that peculiar hissing-dinosaur-noise.
I follow the sound, but I'm too late, it jumps out from behind me, and a long claw slices the back of my neck.
Instantly, I fall to the ground. Paralyzed.

Now fear takes over my rage. This is the omega- the creature- that I'm looking for. Now I know it's definitely someone from that school bus.
The slit on the back of my neck doesn't heal.

Damn it, now I know how Taylan felt.

Like a corpse, I lay waiting for the creature to show itself.
From the corner of my eye, I see short, rapid movements. It's much faster than a werewolf.
Suddenly, it jumps on top of me.
Nothing beats the horror of looking at its face.

Two yellow eyes with snake like slits stare into mine, and cold drool drips from its black fangs and onto my cheek.
I growl because it's the only thing I can do to show it I'm not afraid- but actually, I'm terrified.

It's body is long, slender and covered in green scales. The most odd thing about is the creepy tail that moves swiftly like a python. Of all the supernatural creatures I've been taught of from the bestiary I've never came across one with a tail.

It gently drags its long, oddly clear and wet claws on my face.
I frown at the gel-like substance dripping from them and suspect it's the same substance that paralyzed me.

Maybe it's some kind of poison?
Wolf's bane.
No, it can't be wolf's bane. That wouldn't have affected Lucy and the other humans at the party.
It's something else.

After letting out one last ear-splitting dinosaur sound, the reptilian creature springs off my body and into the woods.
A few seconds later, I hear Lucy screaming my name.

"Nes!" She sees me.
Panick starts brewing again.

SHE'S HUMAN! SHE CAN'T SEE ME LIKE THIS! LIKE A WOLF- AND HOW WILL I EXPLAIN WHY I'M PARALYZED? WHAT IF THE CREATURE COMES BACK?

This was a bad idea- I should've listened to Atticus.

"Lucy! Get away from me!"
I warn her, all while stumbling for words, unsure of how to explain myself.
Surprisingly, she cuts me off in a calm, steady voice, "It's okay Nes. I know what you are."

What? Did I hear correctly? Did she just... Say she knows what I am?

"What do you mean..." Now I'm at a complete loss for words.
"You're a werewolf." she laughs.

Laughs? At a time like this?

"How do you know?"
She rolls her eyes and puts her hands on her hips.
"Seriously? Look at yourself Nes."
She shakes her head before continuing. "I've known since the day I met you. It wasn't just the way you spoke about things and how you acted when you were tense."
She walks towards me, "I know a wolf when I see one. You all have this... way about you. Easy to identify."

Why is Lucy talking like she knows so much about the Supernatural...

She leans down, looks me straight in the eye and says, "I have something to tell you."
Remembering that time I lied to Lucy about my fake goldfish dying and she didn't know I heard what she said under her breath, "I've got secrets of my own anyway..."
I suspect those secrets are going to be revealed tonight.

I'm less violent now, and more in control. Fangs go back, and eyes turn brown again.
But claws remain.
"What is it Lucy?"
She takes a deep breath before she starts to speak.
"Okay. I know this might come as a bit of a shock but... I'm a witch."
I fight the urge to burst out laughing.
But then again- I am a werewolf.

"Witch? I didn't know witches existed."
"Because we're quite disguised by humans. But there are more of us, all around the world, just as there are werewolves, like you."
She pauses to let me take this in.

"What... Lucy, I'm..."
"Suprised. I know." She smiles.
"We moved to Beacon Hills because our coven kicked us out. That Sunday night you and I snuck into the Preserve, I was looking for a coven. We heard of one in Beacon Hills, but when I couldn't find them I told my father, and he said he found one in Mystic Falls. Apparently we got the information messed up. There hasn't been a coven in Beacon Hills for centuries. No particular reason, the witches just preferred to stay out of werewolf territory, and move in closer to other witches."

My mind is racing with questions. Somehow, the only one that comes out is, "Why did your coven kick you out?"
She puts her head down and sighs.
"Well... Here comes my other secret." She looks at me with her honey eyes, "Remember when you said you've never seen my mother?"
I would nod if I could, but since my body is literally dead, I say, "Yes."
"She's dead."
I have the feeling to reach out and hug Lucy. There's nothing worse than losing a parent. I should know.

"Oh..."
"Yea. She died a few years ago. And soon enough, my father married... A man. A mortal man."
Her next words take me even further by surprise.
"Wait- did you just say-"
"A man. Yes. My father married a man."
