'Who's the other plate for?' I asked, my eyes settling on the fourth plate dad was placing on the dining table. In the back of my mind I knew who it would be. I'd been trying my best to avoid Zac as much as I could after our awkward car ride the other day, but he seemed to be popping up more than ever since.

'Zac.' Dad confirmed, much to my annoyance.

'Again? That's like the third night this week. Does he never go home?' I groaned.

Dad coughing behind me caught my attention.

'The feelings mutual sweetheart but anything I can do to inconvenience you.' Zac smirked.

I rolled my eyes and turned back to the oven.

'Good thing I made extra.' I muttered under my breath although dad narrowing his eyes at me told me it wasn't as quiet enough.

I carried the tray of lasagne I'd made out into the dinning room and placed it on the table. I was about to take my seat along with dad and Zac but Jacob stopped me.

'Hey Vi, help me with the drinks.' Jacob asked, although it was more of an order.

I rolled my eyes and followed Jacob back into the kitchen.
'What do you want?' I skipped ahead so there was no beating around the bush.

He tilted his head at my tone and sighed.
'Just lay off Zac a bit ok. He's got some stuff going on.'

Great and now I feel like an asshole. I wasn't a dick and even though Zac wasn't my favourite person, I didn't want to make his day harder if he had other stuff going on.

I had to admit, I did think it was cool that he hadn't told Jacob what had happened between Mike and I the other day. That didn't change the fact however that he wound me up when he made his sarcastic comments.
'Yeah ok.'

Jacob smiled and took a can from my hand.
'Thank you.'

The rest of dinner I stayed on my best behaviour and by that I mean I just kept my mouth shut. I answered a few questions from dad about school but mostly I just listened to the three of them talking about a gig the guys were playing later at the Steam Room.

The Steam Room was this hipsterish cafe/restaurant in town that Ella's parents owned. Most evenings they had some form of live music, whether that was local bands and singers or karaoke. It was quite well known in our town and loads of kids from school hung out there. Ella also worked there some evenings and weekends so if I wasn't there to support the boys I was visiting her. Tonight however I had homework to do so I decided to stay home.

After dinner the boys left to go pick up Dylan and Luke, then dad headed out shortly after to go meet up with his mates for a beer.

Having the house to myself was a rarity so tonight I was making the most of it. I started off by having a relaxing as hell bath. I used a bath bomb Ella had bought me and sat there soaking until my skin went all pruney. After getting changed into a fresh pair of comfy shorts and a sports bra, I painted my nails.
Of course it wasn't all excitement and I did have a mountain of homework to do but I had Ella and Oli keeping me entertained on FaceTime so I couldn't complain too much.

'So I heard Aaron Tate is going to having a back to school party next weekend and I'm going to try and get us invited.'

Both Oli and I snorted.

'Yeah and how are you going to do that Ella?' Oli asked.

'I'm going to flirt with him a little.' She said like it was obvious.
