'Hurry up slowcoach!'
'Calm down, I'm trying to enjoy my cupcake. The cast list isn't going to go anywhere!'
I stopped in the middle of the crowded hallway and took another bite, catching falling crumbs in my free hand. Although death by cake would be interesting on my head stone, I really didn't want to choke because my best friend was refusing to walk at normal human speed.'You and that damn cupcake.' Oli huffed. 'You'd think you were having a relationship with the thing with how slowly you're eating it.
I watched in horror as he snatched the last piece from my hand and shoved it in his fat mouth.
'There, now you can hurry the fuck up.' He said through crumbs. My cupcake!' I cried, my heart immediately breaking in two. 'I was saving that.'
Oli rolled his eyes.
'I don't know why, it wasn't even that good.'My mouth fell open but before I could complain he took my hand a dragged my down the hallway, not bothering to say sorry to the people he shoved out the way. I mouthed sorry to each one on behalf of both of us and jogged to Oli's side so I was no longer being dragged like a rag doll behind him.
'Oli, you know I love you, but if you don't let go of my hand you're going to break my fingers.'
'Sorry.' He said sheepishly, dropping my hand out of his vice like grip. 'I'm just excited and nervous....nervcited.'
It was the day after the Into The Woods auditions, and it was announced to us in class this morning that the parts had been chosen with the list going up at lunchtime today. As soon as it was announced Oli text Ella and I to confirm that we had to wait to look at the list together. However what he actually meant was, I don't give a shit that it's lunchtime and you're hungry, you better meet me on time or you'll regret it, hence my cupcake being savagely stolen from me. I couldn't be mad at him though, he was hoping by getting a part in the play it would be a good distraction from the boy drama he was currently having with his mystery man.
'You have nothing to be nervous about babe, I'm certain you got the part.' I squeezed his shoulder reassuringly.
We rounded the corner to find a small crowd of students standing in front of the drama studio display board. Ella was already there, giving us a devilish grin when she saw us. Her excitement told me they both got the parts they wanted but that obviously wasn't enough to convince Oli as much to the annoyance of the group reading the board, he elbowed them all out the way so he could take prime spot.
'Well?' I asked.
'I only went and fucking got it didn't I!' The excitement on Oli's face was barely contained but his dance moves certainly were not. He performed his victory dance not giving a shit who was watching.
'And you?' I directed my question towards Ella who was watching our crazy friend with an amused smile.
'Oh I got it, of course. Who wouldn't cast this?' She motioned towards myself making me roll my eyes. 'Oli stop dancing, I think you've missed something.'
Oli raised a curious brow and went back to the board. He read whatever Ella was pointing at, looked at her and then they both burst out laughing.
'What?'
'Oh Violet.' Oli howled through laughter.
'What?!'
'Violet Violet Violet.'
'WHAT?! Stop being dickheads, tell me what you're laughing about.'
'Well someone's got some explaining to do.' Ella said after containing her giggles. 'Have a look at who's been cast as Cinderella.'
