Women
We’ve been through centuries of pain
of unfairness, of misogyny
We’ve been treated like objects
We’ve been taught from a young age
to smile and wave
to always behave
Speaking up for what is right, is not ladylike
Men’s actions would be blamed on us
All the pain we were bearing
“what were you wearing?”
Always seemed to be the question
no matter how much you were sharing
And so we went on strikes
to fight for equal rights
we’ve been undervalued our whole life
We’d be told to shut up and be compliant
And we’d have no choice but to be silent
No choice but to endure violence
While our head was ringing with sirens
