It was a dress, a pair of shoes and some jewelry.
"Thank you, it's lovely." I tell my parents as we took our seats in the dining room. While it really was lovely, I was expecting it to be something more special than just clothes.
"Well, your friends picked it out for you." My friends all looked at me, batting their eyelashes. "But that's not all!!" Jenny said excitedly. "You get to wear them later!!!"
"Oh yeah? Are we having another celebration?" My eyes lit up.
"Not exactly..." Emily replied. "Well, you know, since you are a little heartbroken right now... We decided to set you up on a date!!!"
I went from Ooooooh a surprise party to What the actual fuck were my friends thinking. And looks like my ever expressive face has done its job because Caitlyn instantly defended their idea. "Before you go ahead and try to kill us, hear us out, hun."
"Alright, alright. I'm listening." I raised my eyebrow and crossed my arms.
"We promise you this guy would NOT disappoint. You have to at least try to move on from Luke, Stace. Can you trust us, please?" My friends all pleaded with their puppy dog eyes.
To be honest, I was exactly thrilled... she shouldn't have mentioned Luke. But since it was my birthday and I didn't want to disappoint my friends, I'll just go to the damn thing. I mean, how bad could it be, right?
