II

Hyunjin was at home, she had finished her chores and was ready to prepare dinner, her mother was in bed, sleeping peacefully. She had to get ready to work in a few hours so she needed to do this quickly.

Her life was all a rush she didn't get to have a break. She'd come from her classes to give her mom medicine and bath her, later she'd cook and at exactly 7PM she's going to her waitress job, she'd arrive home nearly at 10PM, check on her mom and fall asleep. Sometimes she can't even sleep because her mom calls her.

She loved her mom a lot, she's the only family member left, she doesn't want to lose her.

When she was cooking the phone rang and Hyunjin rapidly answered, it was the surrogate agency telling her she had a couple that wants her to be a surrogate mother and they'd pay $100,000.

Hyunjin opened her eyes in shock, she couldn't believe what was happening. She happily asked if they were nice and if they really liked her that much... Of course the consultant said they fell in love with the redhead and they would like to meet her possibly tomorrow morning.

Hyunjin agreed and hung up, she stayed there leaned on the wall beside the phone with so many thoughts, what should she wear? Should she try to impress them? Should she be cute? Should she try to be friends with them?

She was now having so many doubts, she wondered if she really should do it, she hasn't experienced a pregnancy before... it was really scary but she really needed that money.

She called her best friend Vivi and asked if it was okay to drop in her house for a few minutes, of course Vivi being the kindest person alive said yes.

Hyunjin went back to the kitchen and cooked the dinner, once it was prepared she got up to her mom's bedroom and opened the door cutely saying "food's ready" her mom woke up and smiled to her.

Her mom had a big appetite contrary to Hyunjin she only ate two meals a day including breakfast. She was kind of uncomfortable because she's keeping this a secret from her mom... she felt like she's hiding something terrible.

—Mom, do you remember about the thing I told you a few months ago? About me being a surrogate mother? Well... today the agency called me and said that they found a couple that liked me and wanted me to carry their baby —she lowered her head when she noticed her mom stopped eating

—I said no Hyunjin.

—Mom we really need the money, they will pay a hundred thousand dollars, enough for your medicine and my college!

Her mom threw the plates to the ground and yelled at her saying if she agreed to do that she's not other than a prostitute and she didn't want her daughter to be a whore. Hyunjin started crying but contained herself after a few tears. She cleaned her mom's room and started getting ready for work.

She grabbed her things and said goodbye to her mother but she was already sleeping, with sad eyes she closed the door.

Hyunjin arrived to her friend's house and was invited to go inside immediately, Vivi noticed she was on the verge of tears. And that's exactly what she did once she flopped down the sofa, she cried her eyes out.

Vivi hugged her because that was all she could do. When Hyunjin calmed down the shorter brought a glass of water and sat down there silently. Hyunjin told her everything that has been happening for the past months.

They can't see each other often since the younger has dropped many classes.

With a tear stained face she kept on saying everything she felt, everything her mom said to her, it was soul crushing to Vivi, Hyunjin was always very strong for her mom and her but now she's been hurt by the person she loves the most.

—I think you should do what your heart says. If you're going to do it to help a couple that can't have kids you're doing the kindest thing a person can do. —Vivi smiled to Hyunjin

—Do...You think so?

—Yes! And apart of doing it you'll get money to sustain your mom and yourself, both parts will win.

Hyunjin smiled back to Vivi and thanked her for comforting her, she looked at the time and it was already late for her job so she hurriedly said goodbye and closed the door behind.
