Ethan and Elora Lawrence, the twins hosted the craziest parties during our school time. We still reminisced about those moments we spend at the loft. Though Ethan never attended our school, he and his bunch of crazy friends were easy to bond with, hence there was nothing to feel awkward.
The Lawrences lived in one of the posh bungalows near Park Street and their house had a huge attic which Elora lovingly called The Loft. Their parents were into international business and were hardly at home which left their grandparents to look after them. And very few people knew that it was granny who first introduced us to fine red wines that too home-made while grandpa brushed our poker skills. And it was after we graduated that Elora and Ethan's parents understood why they never heard anything about the wild parties.
When I reached the venue it was already 8:30pm. I heard the sound coming from the attached rooftop. So that's where they have set up the bar I guess. The house was mostly empty which meant none of the senior Lawrences were at home. No wonder they were playing the music so loudly.
I took the stairs and slowly entered the venue. Before I could announce my presence my anger boiled noticing Nupur. Some of the girls and few boys kept on complementing her short dress. "I must say Nupur, you have really maintained yourself!" Ethan commented. "You look hot Nupur," if I am not wrong that's Tej, our senior. But what was he doing here?
"But I think there's someone else who's going to steal the show now!" Chitra commented with a straight face. I frowned whom was she referring?
"What do you mean Chitra?" Koushik asked.
"She means, the birthday girl is here," Rai grinned and pointed at me. All eyes snapped at me and within seconds there were loud cheers and a shower of hugs and kisses. Elora grabbed my arm and took me to the centre, "Bring on the cake Ethan." Ethan nodded and went out of the backdoor.
I noticed Nupur's annoyance as most of the people were now complementing me. I think my red backless top paired with the black sequinned skirt just did the magic.
I looked around and saw all our friends and also Ethan's friends were here too. "What's going on? Why have you invited so many people for my surprise party?" I whispered to Rai while keeping up the smiling face.
"Well dear some of them invited themselves. Which begins with Ethan," Rai replied.
"What do you mean?"
"Initially it was just Chitra, Elora, Sanjana and I but Ethan heard our planning and argued till we agreed to host a bigger party. By the way all food and drinks are on him today, we withdrew once he mentioned inviting his gang which includes Mahen and Nupur as well."
"Remind me when did they became friends with Ethan?"
"Well that was Elora's fault Deepa. Who asked her to invite the whole class for her 16th birthday. And looking at Nupur's nature she never forgets her any male friends!"
"So that explains it all!"
"What explains what?" Chitra barged in.
"Why do you have to enter into every conversation?" Rai sighed.
"oh come on! It's my friendly right!" Chitra's eyes were sparkling.
"Why are you so excited?" Rai asked Chitra. It was my question as well.
"Because I am finally going to murder someone!"
"Who?" we both asked Chitra.
"Nupur Pal."
"What's with Nupur? I too think there's something wrong!" Now out of the blue Elora joined us.
"Everything is wrong about her. That's why I am going to kill her," Chitra muttered.
