[Discontinued] Unconditional Love

Chapter 9

**Third person POV**

Katara smiles and runs to Appa as well while Sokka sighs as he shrugs "This is way out of my comfort zone" [Y/N] smirked at him as she pets Appa's cheek "Exactly" 

*On Zuko's ship*

Zuko holds Aang's Staff up in front of him, examining it with pride "This will make an excellent gift to my father. I suppose you wouldn't know of fathers with you being raised by monks" The three guards, as well as Iroh, remained silent as Zuko briefly spoke to Aang. Zuko glared at him as he waved his hand "Take the Avatar to the prison hold..." He turns to his uncle while holding out Aang's glider "...And take this to my quarters" and walks away, once Zuko was far enough away, Iroh held the glider up to the guard behind him "Hey, would you mind taking this to his quarters for me?" Aang watches the guard take away his glider but doesn't say anything in defiance when the guards forced him to walk down the steps into the lower sections of the ship. As the guards walk forward, Aang starts speaking to the guards in a rather obnoxious way "So, I guess you guys have never fought an Airbender before, I bet I could defeat you both with my hands tied behind my back" The guard hardly reacts "Silence" The three stopped in front of one of the doors and pulls out a golden key. Aang breaths in heavily and exhale a large amount of air which causes him and the guard behind him to fall intensely backward as the one in front of him smashing his head into the door, the guard hit his back against the stairs and fell unconscious providing Aang cushioning from the fall. He launches himself up the stairs and swings his entire body around to use his airbending against the metal door and rushes through it making sure that no guard is chasing him. 

**Your POV**

"Go...fly...soar" Appa groans as Sokka continued to guess what Aang said to get Appa to fly "No those aren't it, why can't I remember?" I rubbed my head as I used my free hand to hold onto the reigns. Katara raised an eyebrow "I thought you were his best friend, [Y/N]. So you should know what Aang says to make Appa fly. I continued to rub my head "Well, yeah..." 

"Up... Ascend...Elevate" Sokka crossed his arms "What was it that he said? Ye-ha? Hup Hup? Wahoo?" I gasp loudly and whip the reigns "YIP YIP!!!" Appa groaned and lifted his tail out of the water and brought it down, quickly launching himself into the air. I punched the air in excitement "YEAH! I did IT!!!!" Sokka clenched the saddle as he looked down at the water below "HE'S FLYING! Guys! He's fly...." Sokka looked at me and Katara realizing that we both have smug faces. Sokka looked away for a second "I mean, big deal... he's flying" I lifted the reigns to signal Appa to go a bit higher up into the air. After a while of flying in peaceful silence, we suddenly spotted the fire nation's ship with Aang and the man fighting "AANG!!" He looked at you and smiled "[Y/N]! Appa!!!" suddenly Aang turned back to the man in Time to block his fire attack but gets knocked back almost enough to fall off the end. Aang composed himself and continued to spin his staff as the fireballs kept coming straight for him but they were coming too fast which caused the staff to fall out of his hands "Look out!!" after dodging some of the man's fire, Aang stood on the ledge of the ship trying desperately not to fall off but he fell as soon as more fireballs hit his arms. My heart sank as I watched Aang slowly disappear "AANG!! NO!!" 

**Third person's POV**

Aang continued to sink deeper and deeper into the water, suddenly the arrow on his head started to glow a bright white along with his now opened eyes. You could see the pure determination in his expression as he used his water bending to launch himself out of the water along with a whirlpool around his waist connecting him to the water, he hurled himself back onto the fire nation ship with Zuko staring at him in shock as he landed back onto the ship and used the whirlpool on the guards causing them to hit the ship's walls but Zuko fell straight into the water. Katara, Sokka, and [Y/N] stared in awe as they watched Aang waterbend "Woah! Did you see that?!" Sokka nodded "Now that was water bending" Aang fainted onto the ground and as his head hit the metal of the boat, the glow gently dissipated. 

[Y/N] Landed Appa onto the ship and quickly slid off to rush to her friend "Aang!!!" she quickly pulled his arms up slightly to get him to sit up "Hey, [Y,N], Katara, Sokka...thanks for coming" his voice couldn't hide his exhaustion. Sokka smirked "hey, I couldn't let you have all the glory" Aang looked the direction opposite of Sokka "I dropped my staff..." Sokka instantly got up and rushed towards Aang's staff "Got it" I turned my head back towards Aang and hugged him tightly "Why would you give yourself up Aang?" he weakly wrapped his arm around my back "they would have hurt you and the village if I didn't, I can't go up against a firebender like him" I gently lift him enough to drag him to Appa with Katara's help we were able to put Aang onto his head. 

Katara turned to see the guards getting closer and tried to water bend but ended up freezing the water at Sokka's feet "Katara!" She turned around and lifted the water from the ground "You can do it Katara" she closed her eyes and launched the water behind her which freezes the three guards "YES!" I shouted in triumph for Katara. She smiled at me as she climbed onto Appa's Saddle "Hurry up Sokka!" He's trying to chip at the ice with his boomerang, it seems sort of effective enough "I'm just a guy with a boomerang, I didn't ask for the flying and the magic" he breaks out of the ice and quickly runs up Appa's tail "YIP YIP! YIP YIP!" Appa launched off the boat and slowly ascends higher in the air. I turn around and suddenly a large snake of fire moving towards us "AANG!!!" He rushes forward and swings his staff harshly using his airbending to launch the fire to the ice wall next to us which causes it to fall onto the ship "Hahaha, yeah" We all smile at each other as the ship got further away.

After a while, the sky started to turn a nice orange. Aang is allowing me to sit out the conversation, Katara is asking him a lot of questions which is okay, I would too. "How did you do that? With the water!? That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen" Aang lowered his head "I don't know, I just did it" he turned to Katara and Sokka" I climbed up near where Aang was sitting "Why didn't you tell us you were the avatar?" Aang turned his head away "Because I never wanted to be" We all sat in silence for a moment but Katara persisted "But Aang, the world has been waiting for the avatar to return and finally put an end to this war" I climbed into the saddle and leaned up against of the holes "How will he do that?" She turned her head in thought "Well according to legend he has to master, water, earth, and fire right?" Aang nodded "That's what the monks told me" she smiled "well if we go to the north pole, you can master water bending" Aang smiled at her "We can learn it together!" Katara turned to Sokka with a bright smile "And Sokka, I'm sure you can knock a couple of fire bender heads along the way" Sokka smiled "I'd like that, I'd really like that" Aang turned to me "Think about it [Y/N], it'll be a big adventure" I couldn't help but smile, he knew all I wanted was to go on adventures, yeah we had fun at the air temple and the earth kingdom but I never went anywhere else "Okay okay, count me in" 

Katara smiled at me "Then we're in this together" Aang pulled out a map "Well before I learn water bending, we have things to do" I facepalmed "Oh no..." I kind of zoned out as Aang went on about ridding on different types of animals
