"I'm glad kasi he's never given me any reason doubt his fidelity. I think I am so blessed kasi I thought wala nang ganyang lalaki sa mundo. I thought all men are basically the same," Dawn Zulueta said about her husband, Davao Representative Anton Lagdameo.
At the press conference of ABS−CBN's Walang Hanggan, the entertainment media showed great curiousity about why the much talked−about relationship of its lead actors, Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta, did not last.
As Dawn coyly prodded Richard to tell the media the reason, the actor voluntarily said, "E, ako na ang aako!"
Then the actor, one of the handsomest in the country, continued, "Alam n'yo, noong medyo bata-bata pa kami ni Dawn, pati ang isip ko ay medyo may pagkabata pa.
"Hindi pa ako masyadong seryoso sa buhay.
"Ang sabi ni Dawn, 'Sa pag-iibigan nating ito, kailangan tuwid ang landas mo.'
"Hindi ko narinig ang tuwid ang landas. Akala ko pwedeng sanga-sangang landas."
After the presscon, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media were able to ask Dawn if Richard's statement was true.
She quickly replied, "Oo naman. Paano naman niya ide-deny 'yon? Siya nga ang nagtanong, 'Paano na nga ulit tayo nag-split?'
"[Sabi ko], 'Nagtanong ka pa? Hindi mo na ba matandaan?'
"So, I had to refresh his memory.
"So, sabi niya, 'Ah gano'n ba?' Sabi ko, 'Bakit, balak mo pa bang i-deny? Hindi na pwede.'"
While this may have been a serious issue before, Dawn and Richard now talk and laugh about it casually.
The multi-awarded actress agreed with her former reel- and real-life partner that they're one of the few couples able to work together despite their romantic relationship coming to an end.
She related, "I think hindi na talaga mawawala ang enjoyment namin at 'yong general fondness din namin para sa isa't isa.
"We treasure the kind of working relationship that we have, pinangangalagaan namin 'yon.
