MANILA, Philippines – Actress Dawn Zulueta admitted she was “so nervous” when she did her love scene with former boyfriend, actor Richard Gomez, for their series “Walang Hanggan.”
In an interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Zulueta said: “Kinakabahan ako. Tanungin niyo si Richard, para akong hinihimatay. Nasa set kami habang pinapanood namin 'yung telecast na 'yun. Talagang I almost fainted.”
On the September 27 episode of the hit series, Marco (Gomez) and Emily (Zulueta) finally exchanged vows after their aborted first try at wedded bliss. The "Walang Hanggan" episode also saw the former real-life couple kiss onscreen.
It can be recalled that Zulueta, who is now married and with children of her own, initially had expressed reservations to do "kissing scenes" with Gomez, who has a daughter with Torres.
Onscreen, however, their "love team" is still a hit among their long-time followers, as well as the young audiences of "Walang Hanggan."
When their wedding and honeymoon scenes were aired, the ABS-CBN drama series drew a nationwide audience share of 36.5%, according to the TV ratings data of Kantar Media. The Coco Martin-starrer's competing program, "Luna Blanca," only managed to garner 15% ratings.
Not jealous
Meanwhile, Zulueta emphasized that her husband, Anton Lagdameo, did not get jealous of Gomez even after he saw the much-talked about love scene.
“Wala naman. Umuwi lang ako tapos naghihintay siya sa sala. Akala ko hahagisan na niya ako ng tsinelas (laughs). Pero wala naman siyang binanggit sa akin,” she said.
The actress said her husband even assisted her because she had a long day at work.
“As a matter of fact, kinamusta niya ako, ‘Pagod ka ba? Do you want me to prepare anything for you to eat?’ Kasi it was already late. He understands because he’s also happy for my success and the success of the show,” she said.
