The dark rustic wood pillars frame an elegant image of the front porch. The soothing sound of a rope constantly tightening and loosening coming from the hanging basket of vibrant flowers is one of the few sounds that can be heard in the distance. Near the dark fir door are two rocking chairs, peacefully rocking back and forth by the gentle cold blowing of the wind
Beyond the front door, a hallway stretches out leading to an array of rooms.
The first room to the right opens up to a beautifully furnished living room, decorated with a handmade stone fireplace and adorned with carefully positioned lit firewood. Plants of various sizes grace the pieces of small furniture scattered around the room, perfectly complementing the couches and the elegant grandfather clock that proudly stands in one corner
Adjacent to the living room, is a room with a long wooden table right in the centre, a chair on each end and four other chairs on each side
On the opposite side of the hallway, there's a spacious kitchen with multiple windows offering views of the house's back, sides and front. The oven is alight, with the roasting sound of a chicken inside accompanied by the steady ticking of a clock
One room next to the kitchen, with a door connecting to the main hallway, is the Garage.
The Garage features a workbench that hugs one corner of the room, with wooden shelves that hold an assortment of nails, screws, a couple of boxes of cartridges and other hardware, everything organised in labelled bins, and right next to it a Pegboard, holding multiple tool pieces. The spotless concrete floor as well as the organisation of shovels and racks on a hand-made wooden tool holder, makes the garage visually appealing
Hanging on the wall next to the pegboard are larger tools, all of them perfectly mounted right next to each other, a Mossberg .500 mounted there as well
And the centre of attraction calmly rests right in the middle. A Scarlet Red coloured FireTruck, with a white plastic sheet covering it to help protect it from dust and other debris while work is being done. The tyres have been modified with shiny new ones and the interior has been completely remodelled, with added seating to accommodate more passengers as well as a modern dashboard with GPS navigation, LED lighting and a larger steering wheel than the original model
At the end of the Hallway, underneath the stairs to the second floor, is one of the two bathrooms assigned to the first story as well as a door leading to the Laundry Room. Finally, a door leading to the back of the house
Ascending to the second floor, an array of beautifully crafted frames adorn the walls, each telling a unique story of 3 individuals. The master bedroom, the one being the furthest down the hallway, boasts a king-size mattress and a personal bathroom, while the smaller room right across the hallway exhibits toys scattered across the floor, exuding a unique childhood charm.
Just then, the gentle sound of the wood creaking echoes around the house
It is so quiet, even the sound of my heart beating is loud
The creaking of the wood grows louder, and closer, sending some shivers down my spine
And then it creaks for one last time . . .
Before everything goes silent . . .
And . . .
. . .
. . .
No?
. . .
Huh . . .
