You will never forget ME
You may forget the names of our dolls
How I bounce on the bunk bed
Shriek when my curls are parted
Twirl a string between my fingers
Skip the writing in barbie books
Before begging for another paperback
Let my hands stick to any shiny items
You may forget the nights of fighting
Bouncing in your crib alone
The first day on the schoolyard
The name of the daycare lady with the dulcet smiles
All the dulcet smiles that greet you
The grown ups who tower over you
God forbid you forget the beauty of being as tall as a table
Not having to count out numbers
Only responsible for jumping on the faded chalk
The faded chalk covering your palms
The palms you love to see change
Oh please don't forget those
Don't forget ....
No you will never forget me
I gave you something you will always have
I named you
How could you forget me?
XOXO
