Standing in the hallway
I saw you unbuckle Mom's love
That she had been hiding from me
Deep in the creases of her chest
A caution sign slung over it
A dead end sign
Leading me down to her rumbling anger
Her anger ready to engulf me
Her soft love impatiently waiting for you
Do you hold a golden key?
Or have more strength to open the chest?
After passing the harsh demands
How did you pass the land of subliminal messages?
I wonder on your journey
Were you burned by the scolding hypocrisy?
Unable to cover the burn marks
With those red splinters
How could you move forward?
Are you immune, stronger, a better person
You won't tell me how to open the small chest
Leaving me only to wander through the angst
Sit in the palpable silence
Stand in the hallway
Watching from afar
XOXO
Today's lyric is, "I know what you did."
