Unfortunately, (Y/n)'s second trip to Kyoto occurred unaccompanied. Multiple villain attacks on the first year class forced U.A. to take action, so Shota began training the students for the provisional hero license exam.
To make matters worse, her mother passed away, forcing her to finish over a week's worth of work in a single day. The news of her early return to Musutafu was eagerly welcomed by Aizawa, but interactions with her was solely over the phone. (Y/n) had yet to move into the dorms, and most of her time was consumed by funeral planning.
Shota furiously tapped his fingers against the table, lifting his cup to his lips. If he was being honest, the tea was awful. He hated the flavor, but it reminded him of (Y/n). She loved it.
"Hey Aizawa, Yamada. I heard (Y/n) is coming back early," Kayama asked.
Hizashi shrugged, "Well maybe, we're not sure when. I think she said she might move in today."
"Oh? That's almost a week early."
"Yeah, you should've seen Shota when he found out! I don't think I've ever seen him so-"
No longer interested in their conversation, he checked his phone for any new messages. The last message he had received from (Y/n) was from this morning. He sighed.
"Do you like (Y/n)?" Midnight teased him.
Annoyed, he bluntly replied, "We're engaged."
A mistake on his behalf. Both Hizashi and Kayama collectively lost their shit at that. His irritation was short lived, however, because (Y/n) came in at that precise moment. Ignoring the other two, Aizawa made his way to her. He kissed the scar on her cheek before taking the boxes in her hands.
"Ah, Nezu said-"
"Yeah, he's already talked to me about it."
"Of course he has," she sighed.
(Y/n) looked tired, but before he had the chance to ask her about it, Hizashi and Kayama bombarded her. Realizing it would be a while before he had the chance to talk to her again, he took the boxes to their room.

A gentle breeze cooled your skin. With a sigh, you sat down on the steps leading up to the building behind you. The quiet night complimenting the swirling nightmare in your head.
Nothing felt right recently, a wave of emotions threatening to swallow you loomed over you. As per usual, you ran away from these feelings by constantly burying yourself in hours upon hours of work. But, the world around you left you with a moment too long of stillness.
You didn't understand why you felt this way. Every possible bad thing had come to pass; you could finally rest. So why do you feel so awful? There was no reason to. You just wanted to stop feeling this way.
Maybe it would've been better if I had died back in Kyoto... Maybe I should-
You closed your eyes for a moment, imagining the sweet cold embrace of dark, unforgiving water... the feeling of nothingness as you faded away...
No.
You rested your head against the railing beside you, squeezing your eyes shut.
