The bunkers floor was damp and cold. The space wasn’t cramped though; it stretched the length of the village square, neatly tucked underground. It hadn’t been but a mere 2 hours since Avery took me here, plopped me down, and abruptly left me here with a dim candle lit. “Not that I’m mad or anything” I told myself, shuffling my feet closer to my body.
If you spanned the bunker, all you would be seeing was the dark abyss of nothing. Nothing at all!
“Oh for god’s sake, how dare he just leave me here with nothing but a candle!” I stood up on my feet and was automatically met with the roof of the bunker.
I knelt back down, holding my head in my heads, “Ow, ow, ow!” I screeched, holding back more of a scream.
As I held my head, I heard soft mumbles above me, and people’s feet sliding across the ground. “It seems silly that they would be sliding their feet” I thought to myself, but I doused the candle letting my fear overtake my mind. I listened intently to the noises above the bunker, and started to hear the mumbling become louder, and the sliding fee becoming more frequent and hurried. I slid back into the corner, pointing the candle stick out in front of me, as if it was a sword. Not much good it would do, against perhaps a bow and arrow or a sword itself, but I wasn’t exactly prepared for this!
The mumbling soon turned into hushed pants and the low grunts of something else. No longer was I holding the candle out in front of it, since it quickly found its place back on the chilly ground as my shaking arm stiffened out in front of me. Soon, I could see a dim light coming from the entrance of the bunker to my far right and scurried farther into the wall, trying to conceal myself in its grey clothing.
“Shh, don’t try to speak you fool!” A cooning voice came from the opening and I stiffened, “You’ll be alright, I’ll just get you some bandages and find Victoria,” she soothed the now visible man in front of her.
Now That I could just see them, I noticed they were both elves and relief thundered through my core and allowed my body to relax. I didn’t move an inch, but I felt much better than before. The man, was obviously injured with a large gash that had opened his abdomen in thin little strips, but was miraculously not bleeding! I watched as he slowly looked down at his wound and jerked his head away, noticing how his jaw clenched tightly after. As I turned away from his ragged appearance, I watched the elf woman squat down and pull things from a leather bag. It contents were one of a medic or nurse you may say.
“We can’t let it sit out in the open like that for much longer,” The woman said in a worried voice.
I watched enthralled as the woman quickly maneuvered her hands around the man’s body to securely fasten the bandages around his wound, without even breaking a sweat. After she was finished wrapping it around his body she slowly turned away, and looked directly to the corner I was still stuffing my body against.
“Victoria…Is that you?” The woman inquired, straining her head forward as if to see me better.
I shuffled my bum forward and allowed my body to un-hook form the cold grasps of the bunker wall, whispering “How do you know my name..?”
The woman smiled, her teeth a beautiful white as she whispered back, “Why, everyone know you Victoria,” She answered pleasantly. “Now, will you come closer so I can see if you’re alright?”
My hesitation peaked instantly, and I recalled what Avery’s words were to me as we had rushed down here: “Do not trust anyone, even be wary of me.”
‘’I’m perfectly fine, promise!” I responded back, moving my legs in a better position so I could bolt if I needed to.
It was only then I noticed how the man started to shake, and convulse quietly where he lay propped against the wall. His jaws began to extend and his mouth widened in a silent scream, his eyes becoming foggy.
I was terrified, not only by the man’s sudden change, but how the woman was doing the same without even blinking an eye. I watched as the two elves began to convulse and bulge in different places, their skin turning a deathly white.
“A-are….” I stopped, because I couldn’t even ask if they were okay.
Both elves were now two human-like beings straight in front of me. But far from human they actually were, their bodies may have been the same shape, but something was to be said about their faces and hands. The woman’s face was now pale and the eyes had morphed into deep eye sockets that were as black as the night sky. Her hands were now thin and boney, and long fingernails now extended out the fingers. Much was the same with the man, except his eyes had stayed but turned a glossy grey, and his tongue had become much longer and silver.
No, these were not elves apart of Adrianne’s tribe. These were monsters. A Monster that was right in front of me. Smiling at me…
Creeping towards me….
“So my little pretty, would you like to play a game…?” The woman said, cocking her head to the said as she stalked towards me, the man behind her.
My eyes widened and my body became rigid, “What kind of game,” I asked, my body shaking uncontrollably at this point.
Both the monsters licked their lips and snickered, responding at the same time in the same kind of murderous voice, “A guessing game.”
I hope you guys like it…. I thought I’d end it off a little creepily this time because it’s Halloween!
What do you think of the monsters? And… WHERE IS AVERY?!?! :O
Also, dedicated to my friend... Who listenned to my weird monster descriptions for about 2 hours. (: It was helpful, thanks buddy (:
