Kaura walked through the new planet she had landed on, taking it all in. Kaura was a smuggler who traveled across the galaxy. Now that the First Order had taken control over so many places, she used that to her advantage. Business selling banned products was better than ever.

Kaura honestly could have been making more money by hiking up prices, but she wanted to take advantage of the First Order assholes, not exploit innocent people for the evil infecting their galaxy. She sold all her smuggled goods for a reasonable price. Kaura wasn't trying to be rich or anything. She just wanted to get by.

She had just arrived at a little planet on the edge of the galaxy called Batuu. It wasn't very well known, but it was a popular stop for smugglers and travelers and Kaura was both of those things. That's how she had found out about it. The planet had also recently been taken over by the First Order so this really was the perfect place for Kaura to visit.

Kaura had left her ship somewhere empty and was now wandering around in the heart of the city looking at all the shops and people. She wasn't trying to sell anything just yet;for now Kaura just wanted to explore. She loved visiting a new place for the first time.

She was also trying to stake out a place for her to temporarily set up while she was here. Most of her items were locked up on her ship.

The markets Kaura was walking through were crowded, but fascinating. Among the people there were often storm troopers keeping an eye on things, but interestingly enough, Kaura noticed they didn't go through this marketplace she was in. Perhaps it was too narrow and crowded for them. She decided she was going to figure out what needed to be done for her to set up shop here.

Kaura walked up to a booth selling nick knacks. She hoped to find something small to buy and spark a conversation with the shop owner. Kaura liked collecting little things like that from every planet she visited anyway. She looked at some tiny figurines. She liked them, but they were hand carved and therefore overpriced, so she moved on.

Then something specific caught her eye. It was some kind of stone, but that's not what drew Kaura's attention. It was the familiar symbol carved onto it. A sort of half circle with three prongs on it. Her mother had a necklace with that symbol on it and Kaura had her own suspicions of what it meant.

Kaura quickly walked towards it and clutched it in my hands. She examined it closer and it was definitely the same symbol. Three prongs but the middle one looked like it had spikes on it. Kaura had never seen that symbol anywhere besides her mother's necklace, but it was locked into her memory.

Kaura took it to the counter and placed it there.

"Excuse me, do you know what this symbol is?" she asked the lady at the counter.

The lady looked at Kaura weirdly, like she should have known.

"You do not know what that symbol is?" she asked Kaura, looking kind of nervous.

"No, but it looks interesting." Kaura said playing dumb. "Does it mean anything?"

The lady relaxed a little bit, but still seemed tense.

"I do not know what it means." The lady said, but Kaura could sense that she was lying.

For some reason she was scared to tell Kaura what it meant. Like she could get in trouble for selling it.

"Well, I'd like to buy it." Kaura told her.

The lady seemed surprised.

"But you do not even know what it is?" The lady said.

"Yeah, but I think it looks cool." Kaura shrugged, playing dumb once again.

The lady looked as if she wanted to warn Kaura about something but couldn't say it.

"I don't know if you should buy this.." the shop lady said nervously.

"I'll pay however much you want." Kaura pleaded. "Just let me buy it."

The lady did not seem happy about it, but she gave in with a reluctant nod.

"That'll be twenty credits." She said.

Kaura held in a sigh. She had obviously made the price higher because Kaura had shown she really wanted it and for some reason the lady did not want her to buy it, but Kaura pulled out the money anyway.

After paying, Kaura snatched the stone off of the table and walked away quickly before the lady could change her mind.

"Thank you!" Kaura called out as she briskly walked away.

Because of that whole debacle, Kaura was not able to ask about opening a shop in the marketplace. So she now had to find another shop to buy from. Kaura was annoyed, but it didn't hurt to make friends with multiple shop owners. She might be able to get some of their business in exchange. Also it was good to be friendly with your neighbors when what you're doing is technically illegal.

Kaura was careful with who she trusted, though. She used to travel in a group and there was a reason she worked alone now.

Kaura mindlessly fiddled with the stone in her hands as she walked down the marketplace some more. She tossed it in the air a few times and caught it.

"That's quite the stone you've got there." Kaura heard a male voice say from behind her.

Kaura jumped, bumping into the man. She then saw he had been holding something made of glass and stopped it from hitting the ground. She stopped it without laying a finger on it, that is.

Shit, Kaura thought as panic built in her chest. She wasn't supposed to do that in public, but instinct had kicked in.

Kaura gently let the levitating object land on the ground without breaking, then looked back up at the man. She had dropped her stone in the process so she quickly picked it up and put it in her pocket.

The two of them just stood there, staring at each other in shock.

A/N: I'm writing this just for fun but I know parts of it might be inaccurate/wrong cause there's so many Star Wars comics and novels and shows that there's so much information I might not know or could've forgotten about. So if something is wrong please kindly inform me but be nice. This was inspired by my trip to galaxy's edge so that's why it takes place on that planet because it's technically canon. :)
