Sokka's POV
"Hahaha!" Toph laughed, "A-And do you remember when we scammed those townsfolk? That was a great day!"
I chuckled, "Y-Yeah! You and Katara were having this intense fight!"
Toph giggled back. It was nice to recall some memories when the gaang was still whole.
It's been half an hour since Toph arrived. We finished the whole pot of stewed sea prunes just a couple minutes after we started talking.
"Those were the good old days." Toph said, a smile plastered on her face, "Life was good."
"Yeah, you're right." I responded, smiling back, "It's getting late. We should go in for the night."
"What?" Toph asked, confused, "What time is it?"
"It's 9PM." I answered.
Toph burst out laughing, "Is that what you call late? Back in Cranefish town, I'd work til' the sun rises and I'd still consider it early!"
I rolled my eyes, "Good job, Chief of Police Beifong."
"Oh yeah, that reminds me. Captain Boomerang, Aang told me he wanted you to work for the council." Toph explained.
"Nah. Now's not the time for me." I responded, "I like staying here at home."
"Why? Are you homesick, little boy?" Toph teased me, chuckling like she usually does.
"No, Toph. I haven't gone home since I was seventeen." I mumbled, "It's hard being away from your family and all."
Toph went quiet. I might not have her seismic sense but I can sense that she genuinely felt bad for me.
"Aw, did the guilt get you, sweetie?" I teased her back, laughing really hard.
"Not funny, Sokka!" She replied, pouting at me. Seeing her pout at me made me smile and for the first time in a long time, I felt happy.
I stood up, "We should really get to sleep. Your travel here probably made you really tired."
"You think a short trip would make the greatest earthbender in the world tired?" She joked.
I nodded sarcastically causing her to sigh. "Well, I guess you're right." Toph stretched her arms and yawned.
"So, anyways, where will I be sleeping?" Toph asked.
"Oh." I responded, "I haven't actually thought of that yet."
"What?" Toph facepalmed, "How can you invite friends over when you don't even know where to house them?"
"Pffft. I'm Sokka, the idea guy." I claimed, "I'll find you a place to sleep."
"What about this room?" Toph suggested, laying her back on my living room's couch.
"Oh, you don't want that." I told her, "This place gets really cold during the night."
"So do you have any better ideas, Oh-So-Smart Idea Guy?" Toph responded sarcastically, picking her nose.
I rolled my eyes, "Follow me upstairs." I walked upstairs and Toph followed me.
"My house is quite small. The first floor contains the main living room and the kitchen. The second floor contains my bedroom, the comfort room and the armory." I explained.
"Wow, so cool!" Toph said with her usual sarcasm, "I can feel the insides of the room, Sokka. You don't have to tell me."
"Oh yeah, right." I sighed.
"Alright. Am I sleeping in the bathroom or in your armory?" She asked.
"What?" I responded in a confused tone, "You're sleeping in my bedroom."
"H-Huh?" Toph replied to me, confused.
"What's wrong?" I questioned, "Is my bedroom not good enough for you?"
"I-It's nothing." She told me. She followed behind me as I entered the room.
Toph settled her sling bag in the corner of the room. "Where am I sleeping?" She asked me again.
"Uh, you're sleeping on the bed." I responded, "Is that not normal?"
"Wait, where are you going to sleep?" She continued.
"On the bed." I answered, "There's enough space for both of us."
Toph blushed, "O-Okay then."
I smiled, "You go prepare in the comfort room while I prepare the bed. I'm already in my house clothes so I'll be fine."
Toph nodded and exited the room. I could hear her open and close the comfort room's door.
