What? Another chapter?? And it isn't set in '8th year'?
Anyway, I know I have a couple sequel parts coming up but i wanted to post this first - How're y'all doing with everything right now by the way?? You know the drill by now but, wash your hands, stay safe!

Draco almost spit out his coffee

"I'm sorry Professor who is coming to teach here?" He stared down Headmaster Longbottom incredulously, prompting him to repeat himself

"Harry Potter will be joining us at the beginning of the next school year as our Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Malfoy. It'd make me happy if you could please act civil with him when he arrives." Longbottom shuffled a pile of loose parchment into his desk draw, then stood up and motioned for Draco to exit the room

Draco, who truthfully hadn't been able to stare down Longbottom effectively for several years now, sighed and stood up - quickly shaking the Headmaster's hand before striding through the door and down to his room in the dungeons.

He had been asked to take over as a Potions professor roughly 10 years after he had finished school, 5 years after Longbottom had taken over as the Herbology professor. The two of them had grown polite over the 20 odd-years that they worked together, and Longbottom had become Headmaster after McGonagall had decided she would just prefer to work as the Transfiguration professor - and Neville got along amazingly well with every single child, he was the perfect choice to take over for her.

Anyway, it wasn't as though Draco wasn't aware of what Potter had been up to; there was a small section dedicated to his various comings and goings on the last page of the quibbler (not that Draco would actively read it, Longbottom would update him every now and then, though) but last he had heard, Potter had been on a trip with Charlie Weasley and Luna Lovegood trying to find some vague 'magical creature' that Luna had been particularly interested in lately. When did he decide that he wanted to start up teaching?

The school year was only beginning in a couple of days now, which meant that Potter would have to arrive fairly soon if he wanted to have his lessons properly prepared.

Draco sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, praying silently for this year to pass quickly.

-----

In his - possibly biased - opinion, Draco had done a wonderful job at avoiding Potter after he had arrived 3 days before school was supposed to begin until now - about a week into the first semester. Unfortunately, even Draco couldn't avoid the Golden boy forever. Potter had always seemed to have a special skill for finding Draco that annoyingly hadn't faded, even over the course of 30-ish years apart.

This 'magical 6th sense' is what then led Potter to crash the middle of Draco's Tuesday morning lesson.

"Oi, Malfoy-"

"Professor Malfoy, thank you. I'm in the middle of a lesson, so if you wouldn't mind leaving, that would be swell, " Draco barely even looked over towards his intruder as he continued his rounds of the classroom - making subtle corrections to his students potions as he went

"Fine. Professor Malfoy. I was just wondering if you happened to have something that would help subdue a possibly angry group of pixies?"

At this, Draco turned around to give Potter the most judging look he could muster - making eye contact with him at the same moment that he realised this was the first time he had looked at Harry Potter in 30 years. He looked older, which was to be expected. His hair that Draco had often remembered as solid black was now a salt and pepper grey although just as messy, his once smooth dark skin was now covered sunspots and gentle wrinkles that made him look just that little bit more tired but made him look more that much more kind when he offered Draco a sheepish smile from the doorway,
