After spending nearly half an hour sitting on the sidewalk, the mosquitoes began to bite so I marched inside, grabbed my stuff and began the walk home.

I wouldn't say I was angry. I think frustrated was the better word.

"Crystal, how was Calum's?" My mother sounded annoyed. "Did he try anything? And please for the love of god, try and get him to drop you off at this hour instead of walking."

"What is your deal with him? I've never seen you despise someone so much," I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

"He just doesn't seem to have your best intentions in mind."

How would you know? It's not like you've given him the time of day or had an actual conversation with him.

Instead of saying just that, I shrugged and headed towards my room. Once the door was shut and everything was quiet, I collapsed on my bed and stared blankly at the ceiling.

My bedroom was completely dark except the moonlight creeping through my window.

Calum occupied nearly every single thought that passed my mind.

Suddenly my phone flashed, buzzing a little. I picked it up nervously. No one actually had my number to text me.

From: Unknown

Hey, it's Calum. I'm sorry for upsetting you x

I frowned a little, mostly because I was confused as to how he got my number. I don't remember actually giving it to him.

To: Calum :)

It's okay I guess... how did you get my number?

I didn't want to take things further and get super angry at him for giving me the cold shoulder. Maybe it had something to do with his past and I just triggered it or something.

I also didn't want to be that girl who overreacted about everything without getting the guy's side first. I'm sure there'd be a point in our friendship though where I would be that girl.

I wasn't looking forward to it.

From: Calum :)

Well when I came inside I felt bad for leaving you out there so I added my number in your phone so I could apologise later

Yeah, because apparently apologising in person was too difficult.

To: Calum :)

Yeah that makes sense... Fair enough :) I'm going to bed anyway, night

I rolled my eyes and placed my phone on my bedside table. I heard it vibrate once as I closed my eyes but I didn't check it.

I rolled over so I was facing the window side of my bedroom and decided that I'd try my best to get to sleep even if it wasn't actually sleep.

It'd be close enough and I was hoping the curse would give me a break.
