I watched from the from the park bench as the two lovers in front of you enjoyed each other's presence. You couldn't stand it, who even invites someone to third wheel anymore? I thought. Scrolling through insta. seemed harder to do now since you couldn't even focus because all you could hear were all the laughs and giggles they made.

I couldn't deny that you had feelings for him, but I also couldn't stop him from being happy. Ruel and I were close, much closer than heather (his gf in this) and I were. You remembered meeting him earlier than you met her, he was the new kid everyone didn't wanna talk to, and for heather she simply just approached you just wanting to be friends.

You guys were the infamous trio of the school, it seemed like you guys were inseparable. If you could have noticed it sooner, the more the two of them talked, when they would hang out together and would unintentionally forget to bring you along. Now you were here hating every second of it.

I remembered the first night she told you that they finally started dating. She called me around 10 and I could tell she had big new because she was so out of breath. What came out of her mouth was the sentence I never wanted to hear.

'Y/N!!! Ruel and I are dating now!!!'

You could feel your heart break from that alone, he was the boy I fell in love with and imagined marrying in the future. Now after the news, the trio honestly wasn't the same anymore. I mean you guys would still hang out but it would usually consist of them cuddling up and you somewhere in the corner scrolling through your phone. This is the one thing you didn't want to happen between you guys.

'hey y/n, you alright?' you could hear him ask you as they both approached you, the picnic stuff in their arms. 'yeah I'm good, just a little tired' you replied not wanting to keep the attention all on you. Ruel looked at the time on his phone, looking back at you with a confused look. 'You're already tired at 5 o' clock?' he asked weirdly, but before you could answer heather was already dragging them both back to their car.

'We'll catch you later!' he yelled out before placing all the stuff in his trunk and driving off with her towards wherever. All I could do was sigh, stuffing my phone in your my back pocket before trudging towards the car. I didn't wanna go home, my parents would ask too many questions about what happened today. So I decided to go towards the small diner that was in your town, thinking you'd grab something to eat before going home.

I drove off towards the small diner, sticking your hand out the window while driving. All I could think of was when ruel and I would drive around town in his car, the windows would be rolled down and I'd have my hand out the window just enjoying the moment as the song on the radio filled the silence in the car.

Before I knew it I was already pulling up towards the small place, finding a spot to park before heading inside. Something inside you felt different, something was gonna happen tonight but you didn't know what.
