30 minutes later...
Naz's POV
My name is Joel Naz and I was born without any superpowers. I'm just a normal being. I just turned 20 by the day this event took place. I studied at polytechnic HQA in Diploma of Electrical Engineering and this is my second year. I can't wait to enter the last year of my studies as I'm very eager to start my carrier as an Electrical Engineer in my place. People often saw me as a regular person with their boring and same routine. However, that's where they got me wrong. At the same time, I work for a secret organization that under the government observations since I was 11 years old.
It's called ISC and it stands for International Secret Company and it's lead by Alex, our leader. Not many know about our existence since it was located in a discreet, secret place, which is in space. We only can be seen when there's problem that involved with invasions or impossible missions that required our role. We also can be seen when other planets asked for our help since we made diplomatic relationships with their planets. I met various people with various superpowers since I joined them and I've made a lot of friends at there. And what makes me more surprised is there are also members without superpowers joined our organizations just like me. But, among them there's one person who is unapproachable, which is John.
I heard a lot of things about him from others and apparently, most of them are bad comments. I also heard that he's a type who prefer to work alone. So, I assume him is a lone wolf. I don't know why everyone was so afraid of him because to me, he looked like carrying a massive burden on his shoulder. Maybe it was his personalities and attitudes that made people scared of him. He is the right-hand in our organizations and he also Alex's younger brother. I was shocked when Sarah told me about it. But, I never seen them interact like other sibling does. The way they talking also not showing like they are siblings. And it's seldom to see him hanging at the HQ even for a minute.
There's must be a place where he wanted to go. Even Alex didn't know where he goes because he wasn't easy to be tracked down. He always has his tricks under his sleeves to escape from Alex's observations. I decided not to interfere with their problems because I didn't want to be labelled as a busybody. But I still putting all my efforts on making John as my friend. I don't know why... probably I was so spirited in making new friends. I had a lot of hard times trying to get along with him.
Okay... there's a story that I wanted to share with you guys and I hope you'll like it. It all started when I was in Mathematics class. At that time, I was attending a math test. I grabbed my pen and sped off as soon as my lecturer, Sir Edward said, "You may start answering now." There were 10 questions covering four topics which are, statistics, laplace, OBD (which I didn't remember its full name) and probabilities. We were given about 30 minutes to answer all those questions. This should be easy for me since I have study it last night and before entering the class. Then, I realized I was being overconfident after getting myself stuck at this question number four.
This question is tricking me with its words and my comprehension is suck. I decided not to waste my time drooling on that question and jump on to the other questions. "I'll answer it later," I said to myself. Finally, with time remaining 20 minutes left, I managed to answer all those questions. I was about to celebrate it. But I becomes gloomy after my classmate, Amy whispered me, asking for the answer for the question number four. I glared at her angrily for interrupting my celebrations. She giggled as she saw it. "(Sigh)... sorry, I'm still working on it," I said, in a low voice.
"Naz... Amy... did I give you permission to discuss during our test?" suddenly Sir Edward called our names. We startled. We quickly shook our heads and look back at our papers. I thought he didn't hear our voice just now because I was talking as low as possible. I stared at the question for a long time, thinking all the possibilities that I can use to solve this question. "Hey-o here comes the danger up in this club..." suddenly my phone rang, playing the Courtesy Call ringtone by Thousand Foot Krutch band. It was so loud until the whole class can hear it. Shoot! I forgot to change it into vibrate mode.
I took it out from my pocket and saw the unknown number written on my screen. I wonder who is it. "Whose phone is that?" Sir Edward asked us angrily. I quickly stood up from my chair. "It was me, sir! I'm sorry! I'll answer this outside," I said while walking out from my classroom. "Make it quick!" Sir Edward said. I nodded at him. I answered it once I'm outside the class. "Hello?" I said. I heard a familiar male voice at the end of the line, "Hello, Naz. This is me, John..." he stopped talking for a while, leaving me confused.
What does he want? How dare he interrupt me during my class? I heard him said, "I want every people in the designated areas evacuated ASAP. I don't want to see any people left behind," he said to the other members, in a stern voice. He cleared his throat before resuming the call. "And you, Naz. Where are you right now? Are you still at campus?" he asked me. His voice sounded like he was worried over something. "Yes. Why?" I replied. "I'll explain it later. Right now, I want you to get out from there ASAP. And please keep a low profile until I arrived. I've marked the extraction point. I got to go. Take care," he said before hanging up the call. I sighed... he always like this, hanging up the call before I could say anything. My phone screen's flashed again showing the location for the extraction point.
