The road to school feels lonely and cold, even though I have never walked it with anyone besides myself. The only noise is that of the wind blowing past my head at high speed.
Thanks to that, even though I prepared myself well, I look like I got here without looking in the mirror once.
Tsukishima walks in right before the bell rings. I don't look at him, though. Not when he walked in, and not now. How I knew? Well, uh. I might have taken a little glance, then.
Not satisfied with this, because it contradicts my decision, I curse at myself. Luckily, I don't have too much time to think about it, because the lessons are starting, and as the year is coming to a close and the final exams are nearing, I can't afford to not focus.
Time goes by as slow as ever. I lean back in my chair, playing around with a pencil, while feeling a heavy stare coming from my right. It's hard to ignore it, but I keep looking forward as each second feels like a minute.
Finally, the lunch bell rings. I can see Tsukishima walking up to me already out of the corner of my eye, so I hurry towards the door, quickly getting out of there.
I notice him chase me to the door, but giving up as soon as I am out. I hurry to the classroom that Bokuto and Akaashi are in. They look a bit surprised as I abruptly sit down next to them.
'Hey, man, I haven't seen you since then! How are you and tutor boy?' Bokuto half-yells as always, making me a little embarrassed.
'I'm avoiding him, and I've cut off all contact,' I tell them honestly, but saying it in a tone that makes it seem like it is a very normal thing.
Akaashi sighs, as Bokuto's eyes just widen. 'That won't do, you know...' Akaashi says, 'where did your confidence go?'
'Well...' I look down, 'I might have confessed to him, then he kind of rejected me, and then after he still came over, and then I might have kissed him and then slept with him...? All while he doesn't love me?'
Both of my friends start choking. 'You slept with him?' Akaashi manages to bring out.
My face becomes red instantly. 'No, I meant, he stayed over, and I kind of fell asleep in his arms, and-'
'Well how did that happen, then?' Bokuto is obviously very interested and very excited, but Akaashi tugs on his sleeve as a gesture that he should calm down.
'Aah, it's a long journey, uhm... Mind if I tell you later? I have to go back..' I say, even though there are still 10 minutes of break time left. I would rather not talk about all these embarrassing things in a classroom full of judgmental teens, especially not to Bokuto.
I head back to my own classroom as slow as I can, but I arrive with three minutes left to spare. Tsukishima is glaring at the table in front of him, but still notices me as soon as I enter.
'Ah, Yamaguchi, I have to ask you something,' he starts, even using my name, which is a rare occurence.
Not happy that another conversation is happening between us (Yeah right, said both his heart and his mind as he tried to convince them of it), I answer only with a short nod as I sit down.
'Are you free tomorrow at 5?' he says, now looking back to his table, 'This might sound a little weird... A friend and I kind of agreed to go on a double date, but you're the only friend I have, so...'
Every word he says stabs me right in the feelings. A date as friends, huh? That sounds exactly like something that I vowed to avoid.
'Please?' he continues as I stay silent, 'I can't really lose to Oikawa here, can I?' he huffs.
