From previous chapter:

"You can let go," I told L.joe. It seemed like L.joe didn't hear me because he didn't break the hug. I didn't want to be rude and push him away, so I looked down at my phone and unlocked it. I opened Changjo's message and it read:

Changjo-
Yah! you better not be with L.joe. You aren't hugging him. are you?

//Chapter 36- love is

Soojung's point of view-

I instantly pushed L.joe away, surprising him completely. I looked around trying to see if someone was watching. I was shocked. How did he know??

"Soojung? is everything okay?" L.joe asked while I still searched the skies and the other buildings roof. I turned to look at him and he stood there, confused.

"Y-yeah. Sorry!" I said and ran towards the exit. I pulled the door but it didn't seen to open. uh-oh. this isn't good. I tried pulling again but it was locked. I turned around to find a chuckling L.joe.

"What's so funny?" I frowned.

"If you're going to try to run away from me, then at least learn how to read," L.joe walked towards me. he put his hand over mine and stared into my eyes. I gulped. why do I feel so nervous?

"When it says push... you should push," L.joe said with a smirk and pushed the door open. My eyes widened and my face flushed red.

"Oh... thanks," I looked down and walked down the stairs in embarrassment. Once we were back inside, L.joe's parents were laughing and chatting with my mom, but my dad wasn't there.

"Mom, where's dad?" I asked her. Her smile faded and she frowned slightly.

"His boss called him for an urgent meeting. Don't worry. you'll get to see him on your birthday again," She put her hand on my shoulder. I nodded and tried not to look upset.

"It's alright. I'll just call him later," I forced a smile.

"So are you ready to go?" L.joe's parents asked my mom. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"Where?" L.joe and I asked in unison. He laughed.

"We were remembering our teenage days so were going to the arcade. want to come?" My mom suggested. I looked at L.joe and he nodded. I also nodded in agreement.

"Okay! let's go!"

***

"Do you want to go play with me?" L.joe did a puppy face when he asked. I giggled and slightly punched him on the arm.

"Let's go," I said and walked towards the mini hockey game.

After a while of playing, I hadn't noticed where I left my phone.

"L.joe, have you seen my phone?" I asked. He shook his head no and frowned.

"Did you leave it at the restaurant?" He wondered. I gasped. oh no. I faced palm my face.

"Ugh. I think I did," I frowned.

We tried calling my number several times but nothing. we went to ask the manager of the restaurant but nothing. we searched the whole rooftop, but nothing. I groaned. I didn't even text Changjo back.

***

Upset about loosing my phone, I sat down on the steps in front of my house and sipped on a juice box I had bought on my home from searching for my phone. It was late at night and my mother had already gone to work. She loved her job. maybe even more than me. I had always been left alone at home. With no one to talk to. Suddenly, L.joe joined me and sat besides me. He grabbed a juice box from the bag I had beside me.

"Did I tell you that you could have one?" I glared at him.

"Oh?" He looked startled. "sorry."

He blushed and put the juice box back inside the bag.

"I'm kidding. you can have it," I giggled. He laughed a little over exaggeratedly and pushed me slightly.

"Yah! you scared me," He laughed. he actually had a cute laugh. After that, silence followed and I just stared into the night sky, thinking about how much I missed Changjo. He was living on the other side of the world and I couldn't even text him back. what if he thinks that I'm ignoring him?

"How does it feel to have me as a neighbor," he brought up a conversation, breaking me away from my thoughts.

"I just miss my old neighbor," I bluntly said. I didn't mean to hurt L.joe's feelings but I was only upset.

S-sorry," I apologized when I saw that he was hurt by my words. He looked down at the juice box, expressionless.

"It's okay. Of course you'd miss your boyfriend. He does love you after all. or else he wouldn't have accepted to have a long distance relationship with you," He explained with a sigh.

"He doesn't like long distance relationships. he never did. You're the first one," he gave me a small smile. was that the truth? so Changjo really loves me... what if I hurt him? it'd be my fault. I feel worse just by thinking that.

"Maybe if he didn't love you that much, I'd have a chance," He muttered.

"What?" I asked, surprised by his statement.

He flushed red and stood up instantly, avoiding eye contact.

"I- I have to go. than-thanks for the juice," He quickly said and left back to his house. I frowned and just shrugged off what he had said.

Suddenly I remembered my mom left her phone on the counter. she left it in case someone found my phone and called.

I ran inside and logged into line. I quickly texted Changjo saying:

SJ: >.< I lost my phone!! ㅠ.ㅠ I miss you so much. please don't be mad!

Seconds later he replied.

CJ: I was beginning to think that you were actually with L.joe -.-

SJ: no! I mean... well...

CJ: yah! why are you lying? Don't go near L.joe! He's trying to seduce you!

SJ: stop being paranoiac. He's only my friend. by the way he lives in your house now.

CJ: I heard -.-. fine. Just don't take too long replaying my texts.

SJ: I lost my phone -.- understand okay?

CJ: whatever. I have to go.

SJ: Don't be mad. Ok...

After that he logged off and left me to growl under my breath because I couldn't do anything. I couldn't even nag at him in person. I couldn't see his smile anymore. I couldn't hold his hand or convince him to not be mad when he was mad.

I sighed. Love is so hard. Especially when he's thousands of miles away.
