The shock in her eyes mirrored mine, but I hid it perfectly with a small smile and calm eyes. And, what else that hid behind my smile was my high school self screaming in agony, wanting to run away. After years of self recovery and growth, I thought my story with Irene was over. But, of course, of all place, it wasn't.
What the actual fu—
"Thank you again for offering to give Miss Manoban a tour," Sunmi said, cutting off my inner dilemma. Irene ripped her stunned eyes off of mine and smiled a smile I knew all to well. A forced smile that didn't reach her eyes.
"O-of course," she said. Her voice sent an unwanted shiver to run through my spine making me clench my jaw in annoyance. Her voice was still as soft and smooth as ever. And that annoyed the hell out of me. Couldn't she have a smokers voice or something? Anything that didn't sound so damn sexy.
She met my eyes once more. I cursed under my breath at the sight of her. She still looked as breathtakingly as ever. Her hair was still long and wavy to the point in cascaded down her shoulders and framed her soft, delicate face perfectly. Her curious eyes were still a dark shade of brown but something about them made me feel breathless. Was it the way she was staring at me as if I was something new? Someone interesting?
"Well, don't let me hold you two back. And Miss Manoban?" I pulled my eyes away from Irene's antsy figure and turned around. Sunmi smiled brightly,
"Welcome to the Academy!"
Fuck off.
"Thank you Sunmi," I said, feigning a look of utter excitement before waving goodbye and turning back around to woman that sometimes haunts my dreams.
"Shall we?" I asked, motioning my hand towards the door. Irene nodded and motioned towards the door as well with a small smile that made my knees almost buckle.
"After you," she said. I would've yelled out 'NO YOU SUCCUBUS!' And run away back to my cats but, of course, being a mature adult now, I forced out a calm smile and walked out first.
Welcome to the academy my ass.
"So, this is building A. This is where your classroom will be," she pointed out, leading me to the entrance. I simply and silently nodded while following her lead from behind. I refused to walk beside her. My heart wouldn't handle the height difference between us. Especially when I was wearing heels. She was still short as ever.
"My umm, classroom is only across the hall from you so if you, Uh, need anything," she dragged out awkwardly, never turning around to meet my eyes. The atmosphere was indeed suffocating, but, I needed this job, especially the money, so I would just have to make do. I uncomfortably cleared my throat,
"Thank you," I said, hating how small I sounded when I was opposite of small. I looked around the campus and gulped nervously towards the sight of students already filling up the area. Most were looking our way and blatantly staring. Some were gawking while others showed disinterest.
