"I'm home!"
I called out, dropping my coat onto the coat rack and rolling my neck and shoulders, trying to ease the tension. I felt extremely drained, not only from teaching, but from all these emotions I couldn't settle down.
This whole day felt like an emotional roller coaster. And it all started when I stared into the eyes that never left my mind. As much as I tried to forget those eyes, I couldn't.
"Aunty Lili!!"
Hearing that tiny excited voice, I couldn't stop the smile from appearing on my face, nor did I want to. I dropped my bag to the side and knelt down to the floor, opening my arms seeing a tiny little girl rushing over to me with the smile I love,
"Hey little one!"
She giggled and instantly wrapped her tiny arms around my neck, burying her face in my hair. I closed my eyes and instantly wrapped my arms around her little frame. Just one hug from her and all my stress seemed to always vanish. We pulled away and she giggled as I playfully pinched her tiny nose.
"Ella come back here and finish your carro— oh you're home!"
I laughed as Ella pouted and turned around to face the tall, petite blonde. "But aunty Rosie.." she whined out. Chuckling, I stood up and placed my hand on Ellas head,
"Listen to Aunty Rosé baby, you did say you want to be a rabbit," I teased. Rosé laughed and shook her head,
"Correction, she wants to be a turtle rabbit."
I lifted my eyebrows and looked down with a meaningful smile, "Turtle rabbit huh?" Ella looked down and fiddled with her tiny fingers while nodding cutely. Rosé and I smiled sadly to each other, "Well turtles eats carrots too you know?"
Ella gasped and looked up at me with widened eyes, "Really?" She asked. I chuckled and nodded my head,
"Absolutely! Turtle Rabbits love carrots—," and before I could even finish my sentence, Ella instantly rushed into the kitchen yelling, 'I have to to finish!'
"Unbelievable, one word from you and she always seems to listen. Even if it's ridiculous," Rosé said with a playful eye roll. I laughed and nodded my head before smiling tiredly to her,
"Thanks again for taking care of her, I just couldn't find a baby sitter—," she cut me off and placed her hand on my shoulder,
"She's my niece too Lis, I'd do anything for her and you in a heart beat," she said. I blew out breath and nodded with a small grin. She matched my smile for a second before we both both turned our eyes to the frame on the wall,
"Do you think they're happy?" She asked in a small whisper. I smiled and leaned the side of my head against hers, wrapping my arm around her small waist.
"I know they're happy."
