"And you said yes?!"
I winced and pulled the phone away from my ear, trying to avoid future ear wreckage from a high pitched chipmunk squeak.
"Are you insane Lalisa Manoban!?"
I playfully rolled my eyes and brought the phone down, clicking the speaker button so I could continue to braid Ellas hair,
"Careful what you say now Chipmunk, you're on speaker," I said with Ella giggling in front of me.
"Hi aunty Rosie!" Ella greeted with a mouthful of chicken nuggets. Rosé chuckled from the phone,
"Don't talk with your mouthful baby," Rosé giggled out causing Ella to scoff and mutter under her breath, 'last time I'm going to say hi to her.' I smiled and laughed to myself knowing that would be something Jisoo would have said.
"What was that?"
"Nothing!" I yelled out, winking at Ella from the mirror. I heard Rosé huff in irritation,
"Why did you accept the offer?" Rosé asked in full irritation. I sighed,
"I don't know, closure?" It was more of a question than a statement. I still don't understand why I even said yes to her. The power Irene has is unexplainable. And quite irritating if you asked me. I heard Rosé sigh in defeat from the phone,
"I understand that it was years ago, but Lisa, are you really ready to face her?" She asked. I stayed silent and paused my movements.
Was I ready to face her?
Was I ready to face the demons?
For years I believed if I stayed faithful to someone, that probably never even thought of me once, then that someone would come back. Before, I knew that in case she didn't find what she was looking for or, in case she changed her mind and came back to me, I'd be waiting. But now? Now, I'm not so sure if I have the same mindset.
"I'll be okay Rosé. I'll mana—," she cut me off.
"You'll manage, I know. You always do Lis."
We both stayed silent for a few seconds with Ella staring at me from the mirror concerned. Chuckling at the sight of crumbs on the corner of her lips, I reached around and wiped it off,
"I have to go Rosie, this little one needs to wash her face."
Rosé giggled quietly from the phone, "Okay." I reached over, ready to hang up the phone till she spoke once more,
"And Lis?"
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Take care of yourself okay? I'll be back next week," she said quietly with a hint of worry. I forced out a smile,
"Okay," I whispered. After hanging up, I let out a long frustrated breath and pinched the bridge of my nose. I was hoping and praying that I was making the right decision.
Jensoo, please give me a sign.
"I think you should go for it."
I widened my eyes and looked at Ella who was finishing up her own braid without me. With an amused smile and stunned eyes, I asked, "What?" She smiled in satisfaction with her hair completely braided before turning around and facing me, tucking her knees under her chin,
"What have you got to lose? I mean, my moms always taught me that second chances are a real thing," She said with a teasing grin. I would've smiled at that but I felt my heart clench at the sight of her sad but also accepting eyes. I sent a pained smile and placed my hand on her dumpling cheek,
