A day at the beach was extremely necessary for me and my friends. The stress of exams and school was practically draining every ounce of energy from our bodies. We needed to let loose and spend time together and not worry about anything.
All five of us were laughing and swimming around in the sea. We kicked water at each other and were joking and smiling. We couldn't even feel the coldness of the water as we were too busy having fun to care.
It was a hot and sunny Friday afternoon and we had all got on a plane to Australia. We planned on spending the weekend in Australia so we could escape our school stained lives. No parents. No school. No authority. Just us. Five best friends, swimming in the most famous sea.
Bondi.
Everything was going great. We had eaten, swam, tanned and swam some more. We got bored of swimming and Julie suggested that we went cliff jumping up on the rocks. I was a little icky about it and had a bad feeling but everyone else seemed to love the idea so I went along with it anyway, ignoring the feeling in my stomach.
We made our way up the rocks and waited our turn behind the queue of people. We didn't have to queue for long as a lot of people were jumping in groups so before we knew it was our turn to jump.
A hooter went off on the beach grabbing all of our attention.
"Attention all swimmers up on the rocks. There is no more swimming in the south coast as the waves are far too dangerous to be swimming in"
Groans and moans passed through everyone on the rocks
"Please make your way back down to the beach and make sure you keep between the yellow and red flags, thank you" the Australian man turned the hooter off and began walking away
I looked down and could see the yellow and red flags being moved further up the beach.
Everyone began making there way down from the rocks which I did as well.
"Oh come on, one jump won't hurt them" Andrea said
"But he said no swimmers aloud" Mia told her
"Oh he doesn't know what he's talking about" she wafted her head in the air "this is our vacation, let's have some fun!"
They passed glances at each other before nodding their heads
"I don't know guys" I mumbled "I've got a bad feeling"
"Come on y/n. It'll be fun!" Sarah grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the edge of the cliff
"Yeah! It'll be fun!" Julie smiled at me
"Let loose, remember?" Andrea raised an eyebrow at me
I looked at them all as a smile spread across my face "alright let's do it!"
"Yay!" They all squealed as we connected hands
"On the count of three" Mia said and we all shouted one two three
I leapt off of the ledge and immediately began screaming. Our hands disconnected sometime on the way down and I hit the water with a splash.
My body was wrapped in water instantly and I landed deeper than I thought. I swam up to the surface where all my friends were smiling and laughing, I joined in.
We began swimming towards the beach but I noticed that I was beginning to get pulled away from my friends.
"Um, guys?" I said slightly concerned as I was still getting dragged away from them
They all looked over at me "what?"
I tried swimming towards them but felt myself get yanked backwards. Fear was suddenly the emotion I was feeling.
