Lolas POV

I stepped onto the balcony, and made my way to where billie stood a few feet away. the door closed and made a loud shut causing her to look back a little, but then turned around again.

I knew the reason why she walked out wasn't just because of anger. it was something more emotionally going on.

"Are you okay?" i said, leaning onto the bar in front of us, like she was.

"Yeah, are you?" she asked, her eyebrows moved upwards when she looked at me, now solicitude taking over her worked up expression.

"Yeah" I said, we both looked down at the ground where the cars were.

"Hey, there's my car '' she said, pointing to the dodge challenger below us, a smile formed on her lips. "Shorty is gorgeous in the moonlight"

"She most definitely is" I laughed softly. billie admired her car from the view. It was quiet until I spoke up.

"I think something is wrong with max"

"Yeah, no shit"

"No, i mean...like more than that. Like emotionally." I looked at her hair blow from the wind, and I exhaled deeply. "I think she may be insecure"

she made eye contact with me, approving she was listening.

"You think that's why she's such an asshole?" billie said with so much concern in her voice after such a sentence.

"Yeah, I mean, I'm not taking up for her or anything but, I just think it might be deeper than her hating me. I can just tell by the way she moves"

"I don't get why she's treating you so poorly. It makes me wanna push away from her. You didn't do shit." she looked off, at the moon. "I hate seeing people get treated badly for doing nothing"

I watched her eyes drift to the side, she started to look guilty of something. Whenever I saw that look it made something inside me want to protect.

I got in front of her, my back against the cold pole. She stepped back a little and I draped my arms over her shoulders.

"I feel like she feels the need to cling to you because it helps her feel higher about herself. She might have low self-esteem" i looked up into her blue eyes that were sparkling in the moonlight. "I think you should talk to her."

she nodded, her hands rested lightly on my waist and she exhaled deeply.

"I wish I realized it at first. This isn't the first time she's done things like this, I should have said something but I always ignore it. I'm too nice" she said. Giving me a sentimental look as she shrugged off her last sentence and looked away.

"You just care about people, billie. I'm a firm believer in that" i say, letting my hands mess lightly in her hair.

"Just talk to her. Okay?" I said softly, and she nodded.

"Okay," she agreed, her eyes looked down. Then back up at me. "but, promise me you won't let anything she says or threatens get to you. It's not worth it, you are so much better than whatever claims you to be, lola.

I took a breath and nodded. taking in her words.

"I promise"
