"(Y/n), Hurry up! We could have been halfway through the woods by now!"

"I'm trying to go as fast as I can, Coraline! Don't rush me if you guys want snacks!"

"Jonesy, be careful. Knowing (N/n), she really won't bring food for us."

Coraline sighed as she and Wybie waited outside their friend's home as she got food for their walk through the woods near the Pink Palace.

"Wyb, I appreciate the effort, but I know you just want me to shut up. And it's not gonna work, especially since I know you're in love with (Y/n) and I can hold that over your head!"

"Shhh! You said you wouldn't tell her!" Wybie hushed as he waved his arms in denial.

"I haven't told her... yet. But I will if you don't confess soon! I'm so sick and tired of seeing the two of you pining after each other!"

"I don't pine after her!"

"You absolutely do! I've seen you stare at her with dumb goo-goo eyes any time  she goes into her house."

"Name one time I've done that."

"Two days ago after we came back from exploring that cave." Stated Coraline nonchalantly with a cross of her arms.

"Shoot, I thought you didn't see that."

"I see a lot of things Wybie. Especially how much you like (Y/n). Why can't you just tell her how you feel about her?"

"Well, because she wouldn't feel the same way."

"How do you know that? Have you already asked her out before?"

"No, I just know, alright? Can we please just drop the subject now?"

"I guess so, but if you don't tell her soon, I'm gonna scream."

Wybie nodded in thanks as the pair heard the front door creak open. They turned to see (Y/n) come out with a backpack that looked full of stuff to bring on their small adventure.

"About time! I was about to leave without you!" The blue haired girl said as she put her arm around her friend.

"Shut up! You wouldn't have left me because I have all the nourishment right here on my back!" Scoffed (Y/n) as she pushed Coraline away with a laugh from both parties.

"Are you two ready to go?" (Y/n) questioned as she adjusted the strap of her pack. Coraline cheered in response as she began to drag her companions away from the house.

"Totally! Let's go!"

The group left the area as fast as their legs would carry them and walked a short while until they reached the forest near Coraline's home. They double checked their supplies before taking the first steps into the thick grove of trees. The trio traveled through fallen leaves and sticks, laughing and joking as they walked. Coraline, Wybie, and (Y/n) had gotten deep into a conversation about faries, monsters, and other mythical creatures before a sudden gasp came from Coraline's mouth. She ran over near a tree and began digging at the ground.

"Uh, Cor, what are you doing?"

"Come over here and see this, you two! It's so cool!"

Wybie and (Y/n) shrugged at each other before briskly jogging over to their ally. They skidded to a halt as Coraline's hands moved away from the opening in the dirt to reveal a large chunk of opal.

"Whoa, Jonesy, how did you see that from all the way over there?!" Wybie asked excitedly as he and (Y/n) knelt down onto their knees.

"I saw it shining and I knew it had to be something awesome."
