Corvus stared at the pile of fruit in the sands. She had tried to lay them out in a wide circle, or some kind of circle, but instead, it looked like someone threw fruit out of the window.
She shook her head, "This is pathetic,"
Regardless, she stretched out her feathers and soared into the sky, and drew her bow. She could barely even see the hydromelons and volt fruit and bananas. She shot 16 arrows down below and dived down to her feet.
Her chest rose and fell as she panted, landing gracefully to her feet.
All 16 chunks of fruit had been shot clean through with a gleaming arrow.
Someone to her left started clapping. She glanced over. She only saw her boots before realizing it was Jira, the Sheikah woman.
"That was impressive," she marveled,
Corvus faced her, "That was pathetic," she said, her arms crossed over her chest, "I can't believe I've been reduced to using fruit as targets,"
"What are you used to?" Jira asked, "Rocks?"
Corvus snorted, "Targets. The Rito Village has our own Archery Range, created by the great Revali himself. I practice there every morning,"
She could see a light gleam from Jira's eyes as she imagined the scene, "Well, I can't get any targets, but maybe I can help out,"
Corvus cocked her head to the side, "You sure?"
Something in her tone must've concerned Jira a little, she could see it in her eyes.
"Uh... yeah?" she said warily.
No less than 10 minutes later, Corvus was standing at the same exact spot, but now Jira stood 30 feet away from her next to a gigantic pile of volt fruit. She stretched, prepared herself, and then drew her bow.
"Ready?" Jira called.
She nodded.
Jira threw the voltfruit high into the air. Tracking the flying fruit into the skies, she took a deep breath... and released the arrow.
The arrow missed.
Corvus watched the arrow fly out miles in despair and fury.
"Throw me another," she demanded, drawing her bow.
Jira could see the emotion on her face and threw another. She hit this one, just barely. Another voltfruit flew into the sky and Corvus shot at it and missed again.
This went on until Corvus used all of the arrows in her quiver, and then she retrieved all of them and forced Jira to continue with the targets.
She didn't hit every single one of them. She didn't even hit half of them.
In rage and determination, she forced Jira to throw fruit up into the air for several hours. It had been the break of dawn when she started training, now the sun was well into the sky and Jira was painfully throwing the fruit. Corvus didn't care. She had to get better. She had to be the best. She couldn't allow herself not to be.
She was getting better, but it would be a lie if she said she wasn't getting tired.
No. I have to keep going.
The feathers of her fingers were starting to fall out.
Still, she shot time and time again. 5 in a row. Not good enough.
Jira fell to her feet in front of her.
"Corvus you have to stop," she said, out of breath. Her face was bright red and sweaty.
