In the world of Estel'inam, the Estelima civilization had to fight against the terrible evil that they called the Red Death.
The Shadow Lieutenant of this world, Niniran the Pestilent, was the master architect of this disease, which spread throughout the planet throughout the centuries, not only causing deaths among his enemies, but also among his allies.
This disease had mutations over time, and spread in various ways.
It was given the name of Red Death, because what caused the death was the loss of blood.
It would all start with fever, tremors, and nausea, followed by a severe headache.
When the nervous system begins to be affected, seizures and muscle spasms come, and this is where the worst phase comes. The infected begin to expel blood, either in the form of vomit or through the nose.
This entire process occurs in a few days, and the patient will die either from blood loss or lack of strength.
Some of these patients even go so far as to cause that their involuntary organs stop working, and even to produce necrosis.
The most common cause of death in these stages is due to respiratory failure or heart attack.
In the beginning, Niniran was located in the northwest of the great continent of Estel'inam, in its fortress called Niniram, bordering the Mountains of Silakoro, in the Sidin forest.
In the first wave, around the beginning of the III century, when it was only called the Plague of the Red Death, the disease first hit the city of Cidinam.
The personality of Niniran reflects how disturbed he was. He did not care that his allies, the Corrupts, were infected and died.
In these first moments, the disease was transmitted through body fluids, especially blood.
It was very contagious, because just by being exposed to infected blood, it was enough to be infected.
In the middle of the III century, both Allies and Corrupts fled from the infected cities.
It was usual for cities to be filled with corpses that were abandoned for fear of contracting the disease.
This caused that, at the end of this century, a massive exodus to the continent of Mal'inam began, as everyone tried to escape this evil.
At this point, the Corrupts believed that obeying Niniran, he would spare their lives, although this was only a false belief of hope for survival, since Niniran doesn't care about the deaths.
For a long time, the continent of Dos'inam was free from both the Red Death and the Corrupts attacks.
It is at the end of the IV century when the second great wave occurs.
The Red Death begins to be transmitted by mosquitoes, and that is why it is called in history as the Plague of Mosquitoes, which spread throughout the great continent of Estel'inam, causing the Corrupts to settle in Mal'inam and the Allies in Dos'inam.
Under the influence of the Nameless and because fear of the Red Death, the Corrupts begin to rebel against Niniran's despotism and insanity, emerging renegades who worshiped the Shadows.
At the beginning of the V century, the plague reached Mal'inam and hit the Corrupts.
Conflicts between Allies and Corrupts continued throughout Dos'inam and Sil'inam, and it would be as early as the VII century when a cure for the Red Death would be elaborated.
Then, the Corrupted Conflicts happened, ending in an alliance between the Estelima and the renegade Corrupts seeking for their supervivence.
Before the end of the disease, there was a third wave.
The cure was almost perfect, but with this mutation, the so-called Last Plague, which occurred at the end of the VII century, made the infected seem dead while alive, and the slightest contact with these infected would cause contagion.
Many were dead because of this, but the Estelima health system was strong, and finally the Red Death could be treated and controlled.
After the end of this plague, death was a guarantee only if you were not treated, or being very exposed to the infection.
The fight was hard, and many were the victims, but the Estelima resisted, and they never forgot the horrors that they lived throughout history because of the terrible Red Death.
Clarification: the progress for the development of the cure for the Red Death happened at the beginning of the VII century, and it would be in the second half of this century when finally a real cure could be obtained.
