The Shadows, the Nameless and the Lords of the End

The Shadows are strange and mysterious creatures that came from outside the universe.

When they entered Unir, they settled on the far reaches of the cosmos.

These dark beings became known as the Nameless, and were led by the Lords of the End.

The Shadows claim to have arisen from an artifact they called The Balance, which establishes balance in the universe.

They are beings that do not seek to destroy, but to corrupt.

They feed on the deepest fears, and can kill with terrible nightmares, while whispering horrible things in a high-pitched voice.

The only way to resist their dominance is to resist all fear, but many succumb before even trying.

The Shadows had different aspirations.

Some were dedicated to bringing order to the universe, to maintain balance.

Others said that good and evil were useless, and they denied their purpose.

And others, they only looked for pain, because an existence without it, would lack of emotion.

Those who follow the wishes of the Beings are said to be rewarded after death with a conscientious spiritual existence, being free to roam the universe.

However, those who have succumbed to the corruption of the Shadows would become one of them, and their existence would be condemned to perpetual hunger for death.

The true nature of the Shadows is unknown, as is their real purpose.

And with so much ignorance, it is very difficult to know how to deal with them.

But the legends say, that one day, they could be defeated, when all fear has been overcome, and thus they can return to the emptiness from which they came.
