The Black Jewels are the most important artifacts ever created in the world of Assiria.

Manufactured by Nísmiel Ascimial of Nimnoania in the VI century, they would be essential for the survival of the Perennsil, the Replica of Assiria.

Nísmiel comes from a lineage of sages that began centuries ago, and following the teachings of her ancestors, she dedicated herself to study the Replica.

She concluded that if it was corrupted, the world would fall into Ruin in the same way that it did with the World of Energies.

Thus, she extracted essence of the Replica and kept it in two Black Jewels.

One was carried by her, while the other was given to her beloved Artonas of Dosmigania.

If the Replica was corrupted, with these jewels, they could restore it to its splendor.

The jewels were black when they were away from the tree, but they shone with their own light when they were near it.

But Mossiras the Deadly, soon adquired knowledge of the existence of these jewels.

Dosmigania was besieged, and although he did not conquer this city, he did manage to capture Artonas and steal his jewel, while Nísmiel fled to Nimnoania.

There in the fortress of Mossania, the Lieutenant tortured Artonas to reveal to him where the other jewel was located.

Years passed, and when Nísmiel abandoned all hope of seeing Artonas again, thinking that his death had been her fault, she left her jewel to her brother Arames and committed suicide.

Following this, Artonas was released only to continue suffering.

The Shadows informed the Deadly of who was the bearer of the Black Jewel he craved, but Nimnoania was a too powerful city to be sieged.

Thus, Mossiras attacked Dosmigania again, and the conflict was so great that it was called Balia Dosmigania, the Great Battle of Dosmigania.

There, Arames, with his folly, came with the reinforcements of Nimnoania carrying the jewel, and Artonas forced him to flee, since he had done just what the Lieutenant had expected.

Thus, the plan of the Deadly failed, but it cost Artonas his life, because he had to contain him while Arames fled the city.

There in Nimnoania, Arames fell in love with Esteriel and together they had a daughter, Anilmathiel.

When the siege of Nimnoania was imminent, Arames gave his jewel to Esteriel, who went to take refuge in the caverns near the city.

Esteriel gave birth to Anilmathiel there, and died in childbirth, so her jewel passed to her daughter.

Arames surrendered to Mossiras at Balia Nimnoania, the Great Battle of Nimnoania, and thus he found his death.

The Lieutenant had no choice but to retreat, again seeing his mission failed.

Anilmathiel Naltarial lived alongside Herthenas of Dosglania in those days, and Mossiras was more and more eager to get the Black Jewel he needed to fulfill his task.

Herthenas ended up dead in the Heartless Pass, along with his army, trying to besiege the terrible fortress.

And when Anilmathiel went in search of him, she was captured by a traitor and locked up in Mossania.

The Lieutenant snatched her jewel from her, and went to Perennia with her prisoner, to make her the first to see the disgrace of the world.

When the Lieutenant was in the midst of corrupting the Replica with the help of the Nameless, Anilmathiel managed to get rid of her restraints and stabbed Mossiras in the back with her dagger.

He fell in pain, and the act of corruption was interrupted.

Anilmathiel grabbed the Black Jewels and threw them with all her might away from the Replica.

Legends say that Níssiriel Aëlma acted in such a way that she caused the Black Jewels to reach the Perenaida Sea and make them to be lost forever.

Anilmathiel was abandoned in Perennia with a cruel fate yet to come, and in the meantime, the Lieutenant attempted to find the lost Black Jewels, without success.

Perhaps he could have corrupted the Replica now that the jewels were lost, but the stories say that if this had been done, Níssiriel Aëlma would have made that the Aelmë would have found them to save the Replica.

Even having passed the First Era, the Black Jewels were never found.

The sages say that they rejoined the earth, because the Replica, with the passing of time, shone with more intensity than ever and its splendor endured in time, giving hope to the Aelmë that their world would not be corrupted.
