"How are my beautiful babies doing?" I ask the trio, a wide grin present on my face as I pull them into a hug

God, I missed them!

"Mom we aren't babies" Marielle muttered

"Speak for yourself dude. I'm as childish as it gets" Arielle commented, earning a snicker from Gabrielle

I'm not even gonna ask where she heard dude

"Okay so guys, I want you to meet someone" I say a bit too cautiously, and guess what? Gabrielle raises a brow at me

I need to send that kid to the hospital, she's too keen when it comes to being observant

"This is Jace, Jace this is Arielle, Marielle and Grabrielle" I introduce, pulling Jace infront of them. He has been quiet since we got here

"You are the most beautiful girls I've ever seen" he says to them, and they beam.

Well except for Gabrielle

"Mom? Who's he?" She asks, bringing up too soon the conversation I wanted to procrastinate

"He's... he's... uhh.. he's... your-

"Father." She finishes my stuttering sentence and I gasp

"Mommy is this true?" Arielle asks, for the first time very serious in her life

"Yes baby. This is your father, Jace Stark"

Arielle and Marielle squeal, making this too easy. I imagined this to be very tough. What kids do I have again?

"We could have so much fun" Arielle mutters, holding onto Jace. He looks at her with his captivating eyes, totally engrossed in whatever she's ranting about.

Gabrielle dashes for the stairs.

Well shit!

"I'll be right back" I say to Jace who has a hurt look in his eyes, the movement and action of Gabrielle not missing his stare

"Gabby honey, what's wrong?" I ask when I make it to her bed

"Where was he all this while? And now he's back, I couldn't be more happier mom, but what if he leaves again? I don't want to get attached and neither do I want my sisters, or even you, because there's no promise for the future. No promise that he won't disappear" she says, sobbing bitterly

Pulling her into a hug, I say; "Gabby, things happen in life where at one point in time you leave those that you love. Your father had to make sacrifices. For me. That's why he left. And I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. This is all my fault. But I recently understood this whole thing myself. But I promise you one thing, that he is here and he is here for good. He isn't gonna leave. As much as you love that he is back, so is he that you're his daughters. So why don't you go out there and plan a day out with him like your sisters are probably doing?"

"Okay" She says and gets off my lap, running downstairs

Oh Lord, protect this bonding that they've created.
