"Thank you so much. I'm really lucky to have you in my life" Jace says, as we're driving back from the court
"It's the least I could do for not listening to you. And I'm very sorry"
"No need to apologize my love. You bad every right to be angry. I wouldn't have taken it well either if I were to be in your position"
My love. He still loves me!
"Anyway, it's all over now. It's time to focus on the future." I say to him as he hugs me to his side.
I wonder how I'm going to introduce him to our girls. I may be famous now, but one thing that I made sure of was that my daughters were always out of public eye. It's a cruel world out there
We booked him into a hotel, since I couldn't send him home. It doesn't really work like that. I hugged him tight, kissed him goodnight, and left for the house. Finally feeling determined to face whatever that came
Entering the house, I found the living room lights empty, which was weird because they never were. Just when I was about to ascend the stairs, I heard my mom speak
"Where are you coming from Theodetia?" She asks and I roll my eyes. Is this highschool or what?
"I am twenty six mom. I don't need you giving me a curfew"
"Take a seat" She says, ignoring my comment
"You have been ignoring me" she states as she puts the lights back on
"Well done captain obvious"
"Your attitude isn't appreciated young girl"
"And so are your lies not appreciated. You could have told me mom. That dad was dealing in drugs. That he sold the web designing company and indulged everything in the drug dealing business. I would have understood. I wouldn't have been living a lie my whole damn life with some sappy excuse of ' it didn't work out anymore'. Nobody marries for a good twenty five years and wakes up one morning and says it didn't work out anymore. But I guess I was too naive to see that" I bellow in frustration
I see her intake a sharp breath, as if she has been slapped. I just couldn't help it. I've ignored this for so long. Pent up emotions are out of my control right now
"I wanted to protect my family Theodetia. I wanted to protect my kids. They were too young. They didn't deserve to know that ugly truth. To know that the father they looked up to was nothing but a cocaine dealer!"
"That wasn't for you to decide mom. You kept us in the dark for more than half of our lives"
"Brandon knew..." She mutters so lowly I may not have heard her
"Wow... just great. So I was the ugly duckling. The old thing in the family that didn't matter. Too insignificant to know the real reason why my parents got divorced. Wow mom, just wow" I say and get up, too hurt to hear what she has to say
