Perrie

My date with Jade went by wonderfully. She ended up picking me up at my house and taking us to the restaurant I had made reservations at. Our date went smoothly without any incident, as did the following days. We mainly spent time together, catching up on what I missed while I was gone and watching movies. However, I could tell that vibe was going to end based on what today was.

The first day of school.

Now, school was never my thing. I get okay grades but something about being assessed on how well you remember or memorize things doesn't sit well with me. The teachers at my school are all ass so I don't consider what I end up doing in class learning, far too many of the people that go to my school are homophobic, and the general atmosphere isn't great.

Jade on the other hand loves school. She is incredibly smart (top of our class) and can somehow get past the inadequate teachers. Her only downside to school is the bullying. She has multiple factors that are working against her. She's incredibly smart, gay, and absolutely tiny. While not everyone at our school targets her, she does have a few assholes who won't leave her alone. I will say though, once we started dating, the physical bullying mostly stopped and mainly moved to offhand comments when I'm not around her.

Since the beginning of our junior year, Jade and I had developed a routine where we would trade picking each other up and riding to school together. So it was no surprise that when I walked out my front door, Jade was pulling into my driveway so we could get to school on time.

"Hey babe," I said once I closed the door to her car. I leaned over to give her a kiss on the cheek while I put on my seatbelt.

"Morning." She grinned back at me.

The car ride was mostly silent, the radio was playing softly and Jade hummed along every once and a while. Before I knew it, the car was in park and Jade was shuffling around, getting her stuff together for school. When I didn't start getting ready to leave the car, she turned and frowned at me.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I lied. Jade tilted her head at me.

"Perrie, we've been dating for 3 years, I can tell when somethings wrong."

"How many people do you think know." I murmured.

"Oh, um well I didn't tell anyone what happened to you but I'm assuming Leigh figured something was up with you considering we were not seen together for a month." she said. "And we didn't end up going to any parties or social events so maybe people thought you went on vacation." I nodded but kept staring at my jeans. Suddenly the hole at my knee was very interesting.

"Hey it'll be okay. Who cares what these people think," Jade said, "Most of them are irrelevant anyway. Now lets go before we're late, yeah?", I nodded and jumped out of the car.

~~~~~~~~~~
Walking hand in hand through the main hallway of our school felt weird. Normally, we got some sideways looks from people who either didn't like me, didn't like Jade, or did not like the two of us together. Today however, it felt like everyone was staring at me because they pity me. Because they knew where I spent my summer. The last thing I wanted was for people to pity me and see me as the poor girl who's suicidal and has a drug addiction.
Jade squeezed my hand when we got to her first class, calculus.
"You're going to be fine, I'll see you later, okay?" She said. I smiled at her and kissed her lips.
"Love you babe" I said before I turned around and made my way to my first class.
~~~~~~~~~~

"Alright class, let's go around the room and talk about what you did over summer."

You've got to be shitting me.

The last thing I needed was to talk about what I did over summer.

When it was my turn, I attempted to be as vague as possible about what my summer was filled with.

"Oh I just spent time with Jade."

"Perrie, I think most of us could have guessed that. What else did you do?" the teacher pressed on.

"Ah well, nothing really."

"Come on Perrie, I'm sure there's something else you did besides hang out with Jade," she continued.

"No really, that's all that my summer was." I was really just praying at this point for her to move on when someone said something from behind me.

Well, technically they didn't say anything. Someone half coughed and half said rehab.

Great so people do know.

At this point the teacher finally decided to let me off the hook. Probably because she heard what the shithead in the back of the class said and decided pressuring me into talking about my summer wasn't the greatest idea.

It's going to be a long day.
